Namco and Capcom working on Tekken vs Street Fighter

An inside source in the gaming industry has confirmed that Capcom and Namco are collaborating and making a new Vs game: Tekken vs Street Fighter. The game is planned to be announced at E3.

DOA vs Tekken would seem more likely. Although really, don't all these games have similar characters that all act/fight the same just with different looks? Always the drunk character, the yoshimitsu, the boxer, the ninja etc.

after Tekken Tag Tourney, which was awesome, the whole series has been pretty much 'meh'

a vs. Street Fighter wouldn't excite me either... they are soo vastly different from each other, i just don't see it meshing well into a good game.

Tekken vs. Virtua Fighter though... i'd be all over that. especially if it was made by Sega/AM2. (VF is the one game they consistently get right)

This stinks of a fandom fantasy team-up. Would it be cool if it were true? Sure, but both Capcom and Namco would be risking their IP by associating their games with each other.

While we are daydreaming about versus games that will never happen, I would like to throw my vote in for Tekken vs. Virtua Fighter. T vs. VF would need to keep the respective control schemes for each franchise, but it be great to see how these to very different games would compare.

I'd say semi decent fits. it's a good game but only 4 of the fighters have any competitive value(watch any SF tournament everyone plays the same characters), it's just not balanced at all though they might have fixed it with SSFIV( I haven't played it yet so I can't say)

actually if you watched really those vids you'd see far more characters , especially in ssf4 right .

People owning with fei long , dan and stuff kinda makes you guys look foolish . Hell guys like Sanford Kelly in the west , Iyo in the east , consistantly among top tournaments rankings , with characters such as dhalsim and cammy , also destroy your jaded generalisation crap .

And yet again , when challenged , most of the naysayers can't somehow point out a lot of more balanced games that arent street fighter titles .

My primary alt is Dan. You are talking about matchups with wildly disparate skill. In reality most shotos are top tier in every SF and there are a couple other contenders there (balrog, bison, etcetc). Dan is there to punish people who spam dp and can't play SF. His crouching jab is slightly faster than Ryu's crouching fierce.

I main Cammy. She is much better now, but try her vs Guile. The matchup is a joke. You can't even compare the ease of use between her and sagat either. Her links are precise and require perfect execution. Sagat can basically button mash high power combos (I have played Sagat since the ssf2 days).

She is probably top-tier or close but you can tell the game has horrible balance issues when you look at what it requires to reach a high level with cammy vs someone like sagat. Even sanford switched from using Cammy in the tournaments after the semi-final round.

If this would have happened, it would have happened back in the slump days of Street Fighter. It's too hard to dull the move sets of Tekken characters so they'd fit into the more simplistic and pure street fighter mechanics. So it's probably going to be more Tekken with Street Fighter characters (and super moves?) than the other way around, but you never know.

It really doesn't seem right to me. I feel the real counter to Capcoms street fighter was SNKs King of fighters and they made a Capcom Vs SNK which was great. I think tekken should really be up against the virtua fighter series.

Ever since i heard that Capcom did the Vs. series, I immediately wanted Tekken vs Street Fighter. These are my two favorite series. But I imagined it as a combo of both, like with choosing 3D or 2D in the begining of the Match. I think Tekken did 2D in the past and i know a street fighter 3D. And both the cast have special attacks. So, i dont see why this cant happen. they need to balance it thats all. If this really happens i believe both series veterans wont suffer because of this mix.

Interesting concept but it would never work because inevitably the fans of either franchise are going to be disappointed that theor fighting engine wasn't used. And if they made a whole new hybrid type engine then the concept is pointless because it wouldn't truly be a tekken or a street fighter game, it would reflect neither of the two, so why even do it? this rumor is bs, but plz prove me wrong :)

The mechanics are way too different.
Tekken doesnt have much ranged moves, its more slow paced, and about jungles and staying on gaurd.

It would be pretty cool if true, I dont see it happening tho.

A namco vs capcom game is a lot more likely.
