As Dan Marchant, the business development director for Strawdog Studios, was describing the studio's upcoming Space Ark for Xbox Live Arcade, a few things started to sound familiar. "Bounce" "Dropping power-ups." "Move from side to side." Characters called "Arkonauts."
That last one was too close…this game must be inspired by Arkanoid, the brick-breaking coin-op game from the mid-'80s. Indeed, Marchant admitted that Space Ark started as an Arkanoid-style game.
Daav from NoobFeed.com plays the Pc version of Xbox 360 indie game Space Ark. At least, that's the intention before realizing that Space Ark on PC is actually still Space Ark on Xbox 360, but now on a PC. It's the straightest port possible, menus and all.
CalmDownTom says, "The story behind the game is some completely nuts nonsense about space animals born from eggs that have to collect DNA crystals. Suffice it to say that’s not a great explanation of the story, but its not too likely you will care much."
BeefJack: "Space Ark is a good-looking and functional game, but a brain-breaking controls scheme, bland music and forgettable level design hold it back from being anything special. It’s a rubbish PC port, too."
