Sony PS3 Sales Figures: 78% of PS3 users online in Middle East

GamesLatest writes: In a recent PR update, Sony was kind enough to share some local figures with us. Sure, there were the usual big November '09 numbers of 3.8 million PS3s selling worldwide and over 38 million users on their PSN service, but some numbers also showed up that piqued our interest.

The entire Middle East region, historically dominated by the PlayStation brand, has a total install base of 450k units as of December 2009. Of these, over 350k users are registered and using the PSN service, accounting for roughly 1% of worldwide online players.

If that was in fact what the US did then yeah, it would be considered terrorism. But you and many others are naive of the issues and don't truly understand all that goes on. It's a shame too since your lack of education and understanding is easier to spread than the truth in the matters. Per international law a country is only occupied against its will and after military conflict. In that respect, America only occupies Afghanistan. We no longer occupy Iraq since the government is now working on its own and is no longer obligated to the rule of US military. At this time, we have permission to reside there for a time due to instability and have permission by the Iraqi government to do so for their own protection.

America has basing RIGHTS in more than one hundred fifty countries that span the entire world. These basing rights are GIVEN to the United States for several reasons; sometimes economic incentives, other times its mutually beneficial as in the case of Japan and South Korea who are protected by our bases against North Korea, but it also serves to give America critical strategic leverage in the Korean peninsula.

We do not have bases around the globe for the reasons you think. In fact, the US is the only country in history to war for the sake of another country and their inalienable rights to free expression and democracy of their own kind. We do not war for land on our own behalf. As Colin Powell said, "Over the years the US has sent many of its great young men and women into great peril to fight for freedom beyond our borders. The only amount of land we have ever asked for is enough to bury those that did not return."

So again I say, educate yourself before making a stupid comment next time. Education is your friend.

They love PlayStation in Middle East, they just can't really afford it yet, but in Egypt, there was a few arcades that just had a PS2 and Pro Evo Soccer in them. Got quite a few customers every day as well.

America as we know it is way to young to have even been the first to do this and even when they were considered a super power they were reluctant to step in for their own mother country and pretty much the rest of the world. Middle east FYI is a big market for all types of games, and even if the game got banned by government you can still find it in the black-market.
Guys do not forget that due to fuel in gulf area, people has money and they buy all the new releases.. yes soccer games and call of duty are popular but also they play games like assassins creed, tekken, Halo series, MGS series... etc..

just to show you how important other regions are.and its not just PES and Call of Duty.Tekken is popular as well.I went to Egypt few years ago and instead of arcades,they had ps2 with PES and Tekken.Oh and they know more games.My little 10 years cousin is asking me to play Demon's souls for example and there are other popular franchises in the middle east which everyone plays as well (MGS,GTA,GT,GOW,DMC,FF,etc...) ;)

Playstation 3 is popular in middle east ( I live in Kuwait and Playstation 3 is very popular in there) now it's less popular than before because of xbox 360 but in the days of playstation 2 nearly every house had a ps2
besides microsoft is not making enough efforts to make people want to buy their console and even live is not officially supported and I have to make a fake address with a fake e-mail to play
and there is no warranty in kuwait ( I mean the 3 years waranty ) so all you can do is having the one year warranty from your store besides everything is overpriced in here so I hope microsoft really tries
