BeefJack: Little League World Series Baseball 2008 Review

BeefJack writes: "Since Wii Sports, there have been more than a few Baseball games available on the market from the really casual, not too challenging Mario Super Sluggers to the "that's more like it" MLB series. Holding the official license for the Little League Baseball association, this game seems to fit squarely in the middle of those two games, adding all the fun elements and putting them into a decent Baseball package. And although it doesn't take itself seriously, this game can be played by a serious baseball fan without handing the controller to the kids saying "this ones for you guys". Even though its cartoony, Anime style may not appeal to the enthusiast, who wants a real player look, the good thing about Little League Baseball is that it will appeal to both kids and adults alike."

Activision-Blizzard Updated Release Schedule

Activision-Blizzard have today updated their latest European release schedule for the first quarter of 2009. With a collection of Wii games and some intriguing PLAYSTATION3 and Xbox360 titles on the list – as well as, of course, Monsters Vs. Aliens based on the Dreamworks' movie of the same name – the line-up will almost certainly do well at retail; convincing Hardcore Gamers may well be more difficult.

I hate the Activision-Blizzard name. Articles like this get my hopes up that Blizzard might be releasing Starcraft 2 soon, but then I realize it's pretty much about more Activision shovelware and nothing to do with Blizzard.

PS3 owners will be spared Secret Service. Cauldron, the guys that made Soldier of Fortune:Payback, are working on this masterpiece.

Poor PS3 owners get shabby ports of good games enough. They don't need shabby ports of god awful games.

What a stinker list! The Wii effect will be taking over in 09 just look at that Shovelware. Paintball? Movie Tie-in and Secret Service which I think has already scored 4/10 from OXM. No thanks!

IGN: Little League World Series Baseball 08 Review

Little League World Series Baseball 2008 isn't really a bad game; it's just a generic one. The style used on the Wii game doesn't really translate, so you get a clip art visual style mixed with low-framed animations, and an overall offering that looks about on par with big-character Super NES titles, or online flash mini-games. The controls are all touch-based, and while they work (save for some annoyances during offense) they just aren't fun.

GiN Review: Little League World Series

James Maddox writes:

"In my experience, team sports games, for the most part, are a major waste of time. If you want to go play a team sport, then get out of the house and play a team sport for real. This has always been my contention, mainly since I had no interest whatsoever in these kinds of activities, but saying this makes me feel like those grumblers that claim basically the same approach to games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band.

I do feel like I'm missing something, some core gratification that team sports games have failed to show me, but I don't care enough about this genre of game to look any closer unless I'm really surprised.

This has happened only twice in my gaming lifetime-first, with the Blades of Steel on the NES, then most recently with the always playable Wii Sports.

So when Little League World Series arrived for review, my enthusiasm for the game was slightly dulled, but I decided to give it a chance to tear down my preconceptions."
