Gamertell Review: Ener-G Gym Rockets for DS

Gamertell has posted a mixed review of Ubisoft's gymnastics game for DS titled Ener-G Gym Rockets.

From the review:

"Ener-G Gym Rockets does get some points for trying. The control scheme is interesting and allows for a lot of freedom. Complicated moves and routines can be pulled off quite easily, provided you've built up enough energy and discovered the proper timing to do it. However, a little more hand-holding and structure wouldn't be a bad idea, especially since this game is designed for children. If Ubisoft and 1st Playable Productions had spent maybe one or two more months developing Ener-G Gym Rockets, I get the feeling that the less satisfactory portions of the game could have been corrected."

IGN: Ener-G: Gym Rockets Review

Ener-G Gym Rockets is a well put together and polished game. The ten tournaments are increasingly difficult and will have you thinking that the next one's goals are impossible. Imagine Tony Hawk aimed specifically at girls, except focusing on gymnastics rather than skateboarding. The game can be frustrating, but in the good way that encourages you to want to get better and keep playing. Naturally, guys won't flock to this game, but if your sister, daughter, girlfriend, etc. has it in their collection, don't be ashamed. It's a fun game.

CSM: Ener-G Gym Rockets review

CSM:

"The concept of participating with the gymnast as she performs is a good one, but the gesture gameplay needs some honing. The trampoline minigame suffers from the same control issues, but it works better than the main events of floor exercise, vault, beam, and uneven bars. The puppet minigame is fun, because it lets you color in your own puppet and then see it animate, sort of like the game play found in Drawn to Life. The bottom line is that this is a good concept with poor execution."
