Square Enix To Reveal New Action Game In April

Word in Japan is that Square Enix are set to announce a brand new action game next month. The rumours emanate from the upcoming issue of Official Playstation Magazine, but little else has been disclosed other than a single screen shot.

An action game from square does sound great, but first they need to 1. Release a good game, and 2. Release games that have been in development for what 5 years now.

They only lost credibility with the fanboys though. Real gamers and Square fans aren't bothered if it's on another platform as well.

The comments here also highlight the reason why if I was Square Enix I wouldn't touch the PS3. There's rumours of a new PS3 games and what do the PS3 owners do? complain! It's getting ridiculous...

Given that Square's been doing better wit retro games on the PSP and DS, have so badly managed their PS3 fanbase so far, how could they not be surprised that some are pissed?

And yes, FFXIII is coming to the PS3, is only going to be on the system in Japan for the little that's worth, but where its getting a delay in the West because of a 360 version the PS3 Last Remnant is as good as vaporware where its old and broken on the 360. And a delay there might have helped.

I agree kind of, they have made bad decisions(using the UE3 for TLR is one of them) but they're still on track. Many people seem to be disregarding the fact that the 360 came out a year earlier, meaning they started proper development(programming and stuff) for it earlier.

They've only actually made two games for the 360, Project Sylpheed and TLR(which was supposed to be multiplat but might be cancelled, probably due to all the whinging about how it's bad and PS3 owners don't want it) and this year they have FFXIII coming to the PS3(but not the 360 until next year).

This is why I don't understand the annoyance. They are making games for the PS3 right now and it'll be about the same time in the two consoles lifespan's that they get the games. They haven't betrayed anyone.

Also the majority of the games on the DS and PSP aren't remakes.

EDIT: It isn't being delayed for the 360 version though(as of yet) the time between the Japanese release and North American release is the same as previous FFs, they're just going to port in that time as well.

A lot of people are disregarding that Square has been talking up the 360, that they've supposedly got a better understanding of it, but the games still have problems. That if the 360 version of FXIII has problems the Western PS3 version will also be held back.

And don't even start if major issues show on the JP PS3 version.

And regardless of fanboy complaining, if Square doesn't put TLR out on the PS3, it will be because they couldn't work with the UR3 engine. Period.

It was Takai praising the 360, he likes the 360 in the same way Nomura likes the PS3 and praises it.

And we'll have to see then... but if there's issues with the JP PS3 version that has nothing to do with being multiplat.

EDIT: Yer, I really dislike the UE3 and I hope it does go to the PS3, it's actually an enjoyable game if you can look past the technical issues.

And I think that the reception of TLR must have some affect on it and if they have been looking for what the public response was they are going to find a lot of "It sucks and we don't want it" because that's what a lot of people are saying.

Give it up there's a 80% chance that game won't be on the PS3, SE are pretty much waving the bird at the entire PS3 fanbase, well assuming the have one they got more haters than fans now

SE needs to get their bananas in order. The current gen hasn't been kind to them (although hand helds are doing well for them). They don't need a rushed game just to get something out there. I wonder if this action game is part of their western push?

Could definitely be KH related. Nomura said expect an announcement soon, and KH series has always been considered and 'Action-RPG', and I can imagine KH3 being even more 'actiony' than 1 and 2.

Who knows, we'll find out within a month anyway.

Square brings out the next BETA game to look what they could do with their Final fantasy? To look on the opinions of the ppl what they like and what they dont!? Infinite Undiscovery and last remnant where two games in my opinion which where just a TEST. This one will be next.. Square makes really Sh!t games in last time.

The only good great RPG developed by TRI ACE and published by square was star ocean: The last hope.

Cool, at least it's not a FPS, or lame GTA game, yeah Square Enix has released some nightmares, for right now, but Hey, other of companies, have too. Dirge was what it was, and for a company to make a genre of game different from the mold, I have to applaud them. I'm not getting involved in the game politics w/people, about SS, or SE cause, they've still made way more appealing titles, than have of these so-called greatest devs.

If you love the Square name roll w/it, and sit tight, when has Kojima aka Nomura, let you down lol. I remember a small article w/one of main devs w/FFvii, and he stated that, he would be ready to remake it,as long as key members, where not busy. I grew up on their quality, and yeah they've changed, but time will tell, if Square is serious about it's games, position, and fan base.

If they do remake FFvii, it better be PS3, exclusive, for the simple fact,that this is a PS classic, this game, helped carve a new generation, and this is what defines, a system.

back when the snes and psx were out you could buy a squaresoft/square-enix game without hesitating. Now I do research like crazy before i drop money on a game. They really do put out some awful software these days, it's a shame actually. Cause 10 years ago, it was nothing but top tier quality. Dragon Quest V on the ds is awesome though, so im happy about that. Also, 10 years ago, if someone were to tell me that square would start milking the final fantasy series i would've laughed in their face and told them they were crazy.
