Havnt played co-op yet but loving this game, up to area 2 now, i find myself wanting to do just one more run
I find the bot companions and heavy machine guns work well, pumps out damage and the bots get enemy attentions instead of just you, i enjoyed the stage 1 missions though that went melee, so you had to go shotguns, i dont normally do shotguns, good how it made you change it up.
Bots are a must. Someone dropped a powerful Sniper rifle. Issue was that I disliked the one shot and slow chambering.

There’s a demo on Steam and the game is fun to play and mildly addictive. Level-up your character during each run, and get better, and more powerful depending on your choices. We, especially like the knife attack stealth mode if you happen across that perk.
