I Finally Had My First Successful Balatro Pair Run And I'm Converted

The more Balatro I play, the more it surprises me.

I really can’t catch the Balatro bug. Metaphor I played the hell out of and thought about. Astrobot? Same. I got Balatro for free on Apple Arcade plus AND bought the steam version a few days thinking that maybe there’s something there and I’m not getting the full Monty on mobile. Nope. Same game. Unlocked plenty, powered up 2 pairs and 3 of a kind to have some great runs. Had some really OP jokers to help me along my way. When I do lose I’m like oh…. time for something else. Keep in mind, Chrono Ark, Buckshot Roulette, Hades, Returnal, Vampire survivors, and any number of roguelikes have been beat to hell and thoroughly enjoyed by me. Several different genres and play totally different. Balatro just… isn’t it for me and I don’t get the hype.

The games that catch the most widespread acclaim are just those that resonate the most with the nature of the gaming audience. Doesnt mean these games are truly amazing per say, they just catch on with more people,like pop music.

To each their own but to think that one persona made this game. It has at least tens of different strategies to win is beyond genius in my opinion.

Just how these things go sometimes unfortunately buddy.
I had the exact same thing with ghost of Tsushima. I tried and tried to get into it, all my friends loved it, the internet loved it, I just could not get into it.
At least we tried 🤷🏽

Another game I just could not see the universal acclaim for was Genshin Impact. I acknowledge its huge world, good voice acting with tons of dialog (even annoying ass Paimon) and constant updates. It's just wayyy to basic to be fun for me, I guess. Plus, I can't do Gacha on a console. Leave those types of games on mobile. Closest I get to gacha games are YuGiOh and other CCG games. I learned my lesson years ago when the "Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?" mobile game had me by the balls. Never again I say!
