what a shambles. ps5 card which is faster, at same storage, is just a bit more than half the price for a branded corsair/western digital / seagate or way less than half for an unbranded..`!
I upgraded my 2TB for a 4TB for $230 and because it was compatible with PC I took the 2tb and replaced the 1 TB on my PC.
So I got twice the storage that is more than twice as fast and paid less than this 2tb xbox card on sale.
It's the problem with Microsoft.
They could charge reasonable prices but Microsoft is taking half of every sale in royalties and licensing fees. The parts inside these things are less expensive than the parts on your average gen 4 SSD.

Microsoft had a niche idea but horrible pricing execution that makes it just so awful.
Like who is going to take their plug n play storage over to their buddy's place to play the latest 80-120GB Game Pass title? No. Sony had the right approach.
To be fair, I did this all the time in the 360 days. Used to install a bunch of games on the 360 memory card and take it to a buddy's house to play. It's just not something that I do anymore, especially since most games aren't even split screen anymore.

A major achievement...Ouch
The result of being able to play your games anywhere on any screen, making your own device obsolete. Just like putting your games on a subscription service day one, only to act surprised the games are not selling, so now have to look outside your own player base that your self groomed to not buy your own products.
