Travis Bruno of Capsule Computers writes:
"When it comes to the developer Don’t Nod most people will think of their episodic narrative games with Life is Strange, Tell Me Why, and even Twin Mirror but few will remember that the very first game the company made is the ironically named Remember Me. Following this they released an underrated gem in the form of Vampyr that showed the developer still had teeth when it came to delivering a solid RPG alongside its narrative prowess. Now the team has returned with an action RPG focused around a pair of ghost slayers called “Banishers” and how far they might be willing to go to remain together in Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden. What results is a love story that is unlike any other that proves that Don’t Nod certainly knows how to write an engrossing tale but still struggles to deliver compelling gameplay alongside it."
Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden Interview - Don't Nod talks to MP1st about the "AA" open-world game's endings, DLC and sequel chances and more.
Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden took 4-5 years to make states Don't Nod. The studio also clarifies that it's a AA game and not AAA.
5 years to make just for john from gamesreviewswathever.com to label it as a 6 because he woke up a lil grumpy
While a Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden sequel is not confirmed, Don't Nod says they developer their games as the "first step of a franchise."
Good main storyline and some good side stuff, but they need to cut back on the travel bloat in the future. Retreading old places as much as you do in this game just wasn't fun and felt like a chore in of itself. I do hope there's a sequel because I really want to see where they go from the possible endings and hope they expand on that rather than the ole 'let's do a prequel!' trick.
