Good! How long until 100 million?

VenomUK128d ago

@Nyxus. Just a couple of weeks more.

Nyxus128d ago

Maybe faster now that the shortages are fixed.

itsmebryan128d ago

After reading the leaked information console sales are not their biggest problem. You notice they are not talking sales of consoles and not revenue, subscribers or profits for awhile.

It's going to be interesting to see what numbers they give the share holders at the end of the fiscal year.

MrNinosan128d ago

"console sales are not their biggest problem"

Uh, of course, as it's not a problem, if you're not calling luxury a problem.
Sony doesn't need to "talk", the sales and games does it for them.

GaboonViper128d ago (Edited 128d ago )

"Not talking sales of consoles"

But the whole point of the story is talking about console sales crossing 50 million units sold through to consumers not being sat in warehouses as some very dumb people are saying.

Oh and its MS who stopped talking about profits.....i wonder why???

S2Killinit128d ago

Sony usually doesn't talk about that stuff unless its some milestone, like 50 million. They let their games do the talking.

PS5s are going to be sitting under a lot of trees.

That's a lot of dust collectors! BSJive has no library worth a purchase yet.

Massive numbers! PS5 has outsold Xbox Series X and S 3-to-1 in 2023, according to IGN.

Vanfernal128d ago

If the statistics that only 25% of Xbox owners got the X it can be extrapolated that:

PS5: 50 million
Xbox Series total = 16.67 million
Series S = 12.5 million
Series X =4.17 million

DarXyde127d ago

I hope that's not true.

After years in the market with Game Pass and an exclusive Todd Howard Bethesda game, that is astonishingly low. At this rate, they might barely outsell the N64 by 2026.

That would really explain Microsoft's refusal to relax the Series S requirement.

If the Series X is really selling that poorly, I'm starting to think multiplatform releases are just dicking around with the X versions.

I'm very skeptical of this metric. I guess I don't really understand because Microsoft has been very aggressive with consumer deals and they *technically* have a high first party output due to the acquisitions.

I'm glad their vision of the future seems to be roundly rejected in the court of public opinion, but I can't say I want Sony to dominate either.

Then again, they ARE counting Portal sales as console sales too, so interpret cautiously.

BehindTheRows127d ago (Edited 127d ago )

@DarXyde

Sony being dominant has result in 4 wonderful, industry changing devices. They’re good there.

Nothing wrong with having healthy competition, it just needs to come from something other than Xbox.

__SteakDeck__127d ago (Edited 127d ago )

@DarXyde It’s already been confirmed that the S is the most purchased of the two. Also the Portal is being counted as a separate console.

IRetrouk128d ago

Now tracking ahead of the ps4, not bad at all.

badz149128d ago

The pandemic has really hurt the potential of the PS5 early on despite now it's tracking ahead of the PS4. For it to not even taking part it 2 of the last Black Fridays and still doing this number after 3 years is amazing yet, it's the case of what could have been.

italiangamer127d ago

PlayStation 6 will fix that 🦍

__SteakDeck__127d ago (Edited 127d ago )

@badz194 Sony still as a couple of Trump cards to use. PS5 Pro and GTA VI PS5/Pro bundle.

Hopefully doesn’t take them a complete gen to release it

Good. Something not boring, not one of those "make your own game" crap and also on Steam would be nice.

I too like to look for things in the wrong places.

"the capital group of PCF Group S.A."

If you're getting funding from a group that needs two different ways of Acronyming itself, things will not go the way you want them to.

banger881d 6h ago

If it was more online-only crap then good riddance.

jjb198116h ago

Outriders was crap. They slapped that game together and threw in a loot system to get players' attention. This game was absolutely jank and the always online nonsense made it stutter like crazy. People Can't Optimize.

thorstein15h ago

I liked Outriders but I could see where the artistic vision was compromised. The way the industry is now, it wouldn't surprise me that upper management would scrap something that didn't pull in money via gaas, mts, or other means.
