The World May Not Be "Quite Prepared" For Marvel

A prominent PlayStation Studios official has claimed that the world may not be quite prepared for the arrival of Marvel's Spider-Man 2.

I'm guessing it's probably all the small details and animations similar to the level of detail when they made LOU2. If they really worked on a lot of gameplay mechanics and details, it could be quite game changing given it is open world. Probably still won't compete with the likes of GTA or RDR2 but I'm sure they worked a lot on it given it's still the same city I believe

Or it could just be hype to get people talking. I'd love to be proven wrong, but it wouldn't be the first time such marketing tactics were used. So far what we've seen of the game isn't what I'd call earth shattering, even though it is among the best superhero gameplay I've ever seen.

Venom is my favourite spider-man villain so I hope they do this game justice! I still think Arkham city is the greatest super hero game ever made but hopefully this can top it! It would be nice if this game turned out that great! I hope it does.

It is mental that this is considered news when other things mote worthy are rejected.

But having said that, Insomniac and Superhero games seem like the perfect fit, I've no doubt this'll be a 9/10

I expect it to be more of the same thing. This isn’t a bad thing. I’d be pleasantly surprised if they put more thought into the side quests because that is what the previous games lacked.

Yea there was some very repetitive missions lol! But the Spiderman’s combat was awesome juggling enemies up in the air with combos! I have seen brutal YouTube shorts of Spiderman beating a thug, webbing him, beating up some more mid air, web swinging to follow the thug’s fall and web and beats some more😆😆😆 ; Wow players have some killer combo ideas man! Can’t wait to see the killer combos for Spiderman Venom!

Same here, again not a bad thing, I absolutely loved the first, and I expect some improvements but as far as my personal expectations I'm not expecting groundbreaking or bleeding edge concepts or anything. Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised, but I'm fine with what I've seen

My body is ready! I am also ready to see some returning villains like SCREWBALL😆 Don’t forget the photobomb 💥 Ha ha ha HA! Just imagine if such annoying character came back to the sequel? It would be funny to see the voice actress go on stage to announce her return saying SCREWBALL IS BACK FOR A NEW SEASON!!! And the crowd starts laughing. I am almost certain that we could get Carnage as well in the main game, and reboot the horror PS1 moment of Doctor Octavious as Carnage!!! Holy crap that would be scary for Spiderman 2!

I really enjoyed 1 and mm was a fun albeit short launch game they really do need to up the ante with 2 some new interior locations and tweaks the the city just won't do.

But I do trust insomniac they are tech wizards who have managed to build some of my favourite games so I'm confident it will be good

I loved the last one so much, but after platinuming it when it came out and feeling like I did and enjoyed all I could in that world I have zero excitement and anticipation for the sequel. More of the exact same isn’t quite enough for me I’m afraid. It doesn’t help that I’ve sank many many hours into countless other spider-man games in the last 20 years. I just don’t see where they can take a new spider-man game that it hasn’t already been. It’s bound to Manhattan and playing as spider-man, two very very exciting things, I’ve just done them before so so so many times, and last time was just soooo good. I’m out.

What's with publishers in over hyping their games to the extreme these days?
If you promise huge things like this without a sliver of info on what you're talking about it gets our imaginations going and it's hard to live up to the entire world's imagination lol

It's Insomniac though so if anybody can do it it's them but damn. Overhype in 2023 is so exaggerated idk

It reads like the studio is just proud of what they’ve done and are confident they have a hit on their hand. I enjoyed the last 2 games. Very easy to get hooked on trying to unlock every suit, power, and every side quest. I find them to be very accessible to gamers of all types.

Of course I'll hold off getting on the hype train until I can hear and see more about the game after it releases. But yeah, I'm looking forward to the next chapter in the story.

Im kind of excited.. I'm replaying the original Spider-Man from 2018 (But The PS5 Remaster) just to hold me over until next month.
