That’s nice. But let’s leave behind last gen now. Signed majority of gamers

cammers1995399d ago

Or just don't buy the games? You don't speak for everyone.

ModsDoBetter399d ago

Why release new console generations if we’re going to keep holding them back with cross-gen titles only fully utilising the hardware in a select few titles and/or towards the final couple of years of its lifespan?

Last gen is two and a half years ago, time to move on given that gens are usually 5-7 years.

Jin_Sakai398d ago

“Or just don't buy the games? You don't speak for everyone.“

We’re going on 3 years into this generation. If you haven’t moved on that’s your fault. People didn’t buy new consoles to play last gen games.

Graphics and _Gameplay_ suffer when you have to deal with weaker hardware. Hogwarts Legacy was great, I liked it, but it didn't take advantage of what's possible on the new consoles. There are so many PS4 games that are on the same level as Hogwarts. 60fps and resolution bump not taken into account, but that's not all this gen is possible of and we are seeing that more in true new-gen exclusive games like Ratchet and Clank and FF16 to name a couple.

I'm starving for more new-gen only games, and at least I hope most new-gen owners are. We've seen the trailers of games in progress on new-gen consoles, there's no more lack of inventory, the base is really large so yeah, please, flex your muscles all devs.

northpaws398d ago

They released next-gen version first and then take their time to optimize last-gen, I don't see any problem with this approach, and both run well, which is amazing, and sadly also rare in these days.

FallenAngel1984398d ago

If a game can run on last gen then let it

A would you enjoy King of Fighters XV, Resident Evil 4, Hogwarts Legacy or Street Fighter 6 any less just because there’s last gen versions of them?

Zeref398d ago

Why would they leave it behind for a game that's perfectly capable of running on lastgen consoles?

They clearly developed it for currentgen first and took their time to adapt it for lastgen because it was possible.

There are some games that should have been currentgen only. Like Halo Infinite because lastgen clearly held it back, it could have had more AI in campaign or bigger BTB maps and teams.

But Hogwarts Legacy, I don't see how lastgen could have held it back. Everything about the game looks and feels amazing.

I really wonder how much will be sacrificed to get this running on switch. I wouldn't really complain about leaving x1 and PS4 behind when we are still seeing switch being developed for

XbladeTeddy398d ago

Well, most devs aren't developing for it. It's basically Nintendo and a few studios porting old games to make a quick dollar.

Belmont85398d ago

Because they delayed it to
Makesure it runs properly. Unlike Cyberpunk and many others.

Dandalandan117398d ago

That's all thanks to the developers' hard work and dedication.

Melankolis398d ago

The way the games are developed now, strip 4K, 60fps, and Ray Tracing from the game and anything can run on PS4/XBO

Hogwarts Legacy Summer 2024 Update Trailer

This sounds like another great update for the game as Warner Bros. Games today announced that the Hogwarts Legacy Summer 2024 update is officially live on all platforms for players who own the game.

Kosic3d ago

Great game, but this summer update was over hyped. It's just a camera mode and dlc from Playstation to Xbox...

Was Hogwarts Legacy Only Successful Because Of Nostalgia?

Shahmeer from eXputer: "I've always wondered whether the success of Hogwarts Legacy had much to do with nostalgia. The RPG is great but certainly not free of issues."

Markdn40d ago

I totally agree, and no replay value for sure but enjoyed every minute I was playing it. Not a Harry Potter fan but still really enjoyed

Lexreborn240d ago

I still haven’t finished it, mostly due to it not holding my interest after 20 hours. Wouldn’t say it’s a bad game, wouldn’t say it’s amazing I really can’t judge it fully due to not completing it.

Lexreborn240d ago

lol are people upset because I said I put 20 hours into the game and that because I haven’t finished I won’t criticize it’s value or if nostalgia generates it’s success? That’s funny

CrimsonWing6940d ago

Harry Potter is one of the biggest IPs in the world. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out why it sold so much. It’s a great game on top of that, so the math kind of maths here.

Can’t wait for the article on if Zelda or Mario only sold well due to nostalgia.

Crows9040d ago

They're trying to find a fake reason for its success...the mainstream hate how successful it became because of the writer behind the series.

So now they want to say that people bought it not because they liked it but only because of nostalgia....as if harry potter is really that old or even a classic IP in the game industry.

thorstein40d ago

That doesn't even make any sense. The author made those statements before the game released. People knew ahead of time and wanted a boycott.

But most people knew any boycott would only punish the people who worked on the game and put their hearts into it (like most boycotts).

So many people bought it, enjoyed it immensely, and moved on.

VenomUK40d ago

@CrimsonWing69 A greatly in demand IP only takes you so far, if it was crap quality then the reviews and word of mouth would have stalled its sales. But it is a good game (judged by Metacritic and user reviews) and that has given the game legs.

Tzuno40d ago (Edited 40d ago )

ngl, it got me in the first half hour
after that, a big let down, mediocre at every step
only fans are praising it

Markdn40d ago

In what way was it mediocre, can't really find anything about it that was mediocre and I'm not a hp fan

Demetrius40d ago

It's still a good game almost time for a 2nd playthrough, the passion they put into it is🔥🔥 crazy how after a couple months or a year folks get to complaining about this n that about certain games smh childish mfs

Hogwarts Legacy might be hiding a grotto in here

A Hogwarts Legacy player came across a gigantic tree under Bakar's tower, which might be hiding a grotto in it.
