Trust me, I am! this will scratch that tactical shooter itch and the quality is all but guaranteed given how amazing the first game was. There was a solid player base for the game too and the devs, First Contact Entertainment put in SO much support after launch for a long time, keeping things fresh.

My favourite of the new details that just emerged are using your torch to blind opponents and that you can put your hand in front of it to block the beam. This opens the way for using it to communicate too - even Morse code lol - although I'd probably just eff about making light puppet shows around the corner from an enemy before blowing their brains out!

Also cool, is the fact that if someone lobs a flash grenade near you, you can cover - or just close - your eyes and spare yourself the temporary blindness. Just amazing additions to the immersion we didn't even realise we were missing up till now!

I'm hoping for a faster pace than part 1 and massive improvement overall. Hopefully its a lot better than pavlov.

FortWaba803d ago

What's wrong with Pavlov?

I just got it yesterday, and despite getting constantly creamed even by the easy AI, learning the controls has been very fun. Reloading is awesome.

What issues have you had with it so far?

SullysCigar803d ago

Just to let you know that the devs have said (in reply to comments saying the trailer looked just as slow as the OG game) that the walking speed is a bit faster now and that you can increase that speed further (maybe through perks or attribute upgrades?), but also that you can sprint now and you can slide into cover!

Sounds like they heard our complaints loud and clear, thankfully!

Sprinter24804d ago

The first one was a lot of fun on PS4 PRO! My main complaint was that the rounds were too short before you got booted back to the lobby so you'd spend a 3rd of your session matchmaking and waiting to play as opposed to playing.

Im happy the new controllers dont really require the aim. Excited for this.

Does anyone have recommendations for a gun peripheral for psvr2?

Mr_Writer85804d ago

I really liked the first one for a short while.

Until it becomes a typical grind-a-thon.

If you don't play it from day one, and just play that game, you soon become out gunned by those that do dedicate more time.

Games should be about skill, not who has the better gun or gear because they can spend more time on it.

The Taylor CQB is/was the joint best weapon in Firewall ZH and unlocked at level 7.
The Reg K8 Classic was the other best gun and was easy to unlock after it was added in a free DLC by doing some simple challenges.

Of the four the meteora was the one that attracted me the most and the least was dream of another but if they put up demo for all of them I would try them out.

OtterX2d ago (Edited 2d ago )

Dreams of Another sounds decent, but you know what we need? Another Dreams. Or at least a remaster of the previous one. It was one of my favorite "games" on PSVR1. I used to spend hours and hours getting lost in peoples' creations, and I occasionally dabbled in building.

Interesting that people are more interested in debating the future of PSVR2 and whether there will be a third and the games being made for the product.

Babadook71d 23h ago (Edited 1d 23h ago )

Sony should go the hybrid route. So many games would be even better in VR and what would the cost be to porting to VR? RE8 is my favourite experience this gen and I don't think it's cost prohibitive.

PSVR 2's Tipping Point: Will There be a PSVR 3?

The PSVR 2 is a fantastic piece of kit, held back by a lack of software support. With this in mind, will we ever see a PSVR 3?

PSVR1 sold around 10 million and PSVR2 sold around 1 million. I don't see any logical room for a PSVR3 unless they have something special. PSVR was basically PS Move for Sony, hedging their bets just in case VR was a mass market product, but it clearly wasn't. With news of Quest 3/s sales faltering badly and question marks over there even being a Quest 4 I highly doubt a PSVR3 is even being considered.

kevco334d ago

The question marks over the Quest 4 are 'when', not 'if'. Meta's new approach is smart glasses, putting a longer divide between Quest iterations. This is a good move, in my opinion. It will lead to eventual convergence of AR and VR.

lukasmain3d ago

It will be a big market as soon as they can have a completely wireless setup. When they can do that, it will be much better.

thorstein3d ago

PSVR2 sold 600,000 units in its first six weeks. It continues to be updated and supported. Latest update was this week.

Profchaos3d ago

From what I recall psvr2 was at around 4 million shortly after launch

Yesyes3d ago

Yeah no chance. Loved PSVR1 but not much to play on VR2. I’m only keeping it in the extremely faint hope that Half Life Alyx is announced.

slayernz3d ago

U Kidding right? There's heaps to play, GT7, resident evils, NMS, Hitman, Metro, TWD to name a few.....even games like mini golf were a ton of fun

crazyCoconuts3d ago

Not sure about the numbers, but I'm sure they're not stellar.
And with Yoshida's parting comments on how the entrenched leaders view PSVR it would be a big surprise if they were planning on another iteration next gen. Such a shame- I feel like they lost that innovative spirit

Ozzy24073d ago

Max Mustard Delevopers estimates that Playstation VR 2 has sold around 2 million units.

Babadook72d ago

I kind of agree with your points (although I will maintain there is a fair amount of amazing software on PSVR2). I think Sony should wait a while for PSVR3 and yet have back compatibility of PSVR2 on the PS6. That way developers can keep producing games, and Sony won't be "saddled" with producing 1st party support.

I doubt it, and PS2 VR is so good, I hope Sony continues to develop for it on PS6. Why not. They can expand the install base over this Gen into next.

Neonridr4d ago (Edited 4d ago )

given how quickly Sony themselves abandoned support for the headset, I don't see them taking another crack anytime in the near future. PSVR2 was so much more technically sound and delivered a much better experience over the previous model, but I think VR is losing its steam and many people were turned off from the first headset after it delivered somewhat underwhelming experiences due to the limitations of the original device.

I love VR and will continue to support it, but I'd be surprised to see a PSVR3 anytime soon.

lukasmain3d ago

VR needs to be completely wireless and a super easy plug and play. When they can do that, it will be a lot more successful.

Neonridr3d ago

I mean that is the Quest ecosystem, you trade off a bit of graphical prowress but you gain in full freedom of movement.

IF there is to be a VR3, it needs to address the biggest missed opportunity that Sony is guilty of with VR2. that is it needs to support ALL of their VR titles, no matter what. The lack of full VR1 support for VR2 cannot be under stated. And even in the face of declining VR2 sales... Sony STILL has not taken the opportunity to address this omission.

I'd definitely get a VR3 if it supported not only its own but all of their previous works as well. Wireless certainly would be welcome reason as well.

Profchaos3d ago

Im a psvr2 owner I love it but I wouldn't buy a psvr 3 unless Sony made a real commitment to supporting it via games
