New Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi Game Announced

During the DBFZ World Champion tournament today, Bandai announced that a New Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi Game was finally in development.

Budokai Tenkaichi 3 is still my favorite DBZ game. Its roster is still unmatched to this day in DBZ fighting games. This is great news. I never thought this series would return.

I'm curious if they'll pull off that roster again, with all the new supers characters introduced too. Would love if they just kept building onto it, but given the current landscape of gaming, I suspect a season pass and a bunch of old characters being DLC for years to come.

But I'm still hyped for this. Been far too long.

As much as I would like them to have the kind of roster BT 3 had I doubt this new entry will even touch it. I'd love to be wrong. But like you said I'm hyped as well even though I know how modern fighters are treated these days when it comes to season passes.

I think they'll scale it back. It was a bit of a gimmick to say they had tons of characters when in reality, it came down to many transformations and different sagas (e.g., early Goku, Goku (mid), and Goku (end). They might still do that, but I don't expect it to be so aggressive.

There are some justifiable differences to consider though like Broly Z and Broly Super.

I’m confused regarding the nostalgia hype when most DBZ games basically follow the same formula. Raging Blast and Xenoverse are the game as Tenkaichi.

Fighting games dont ever get the kind of technical/graphical love that requires next gen hardware so it'll probably be cross-plat, just like SF6.

Yeah sorry to say but 2+ years after release they're not next gen anymore they're current gen. They're also a lot easier to get.

I think there's no way they are skipping the Switch fanbase, which would pretty much guarantee it will also come out for last gen consoles.

There's a lot that they can improve, they fixed a few things with patches but stuff like superdash tracking, autocombo turn around amongst other things still need fixing.

I wish the environment had a less of a "realistic Unreal Engine Jump Force" look to it and instead more cartoony one that fits the character models better. But still, insane hype.

I've seen a lotta comments regarding the roster. Let's be real folks. That ain't gonna happen. I mean do yall really want such a bloated roster again? We don't need king vegeta, k8ng cold, frieza Soldier, cui, apoo, pilaf machine, kid chi chi, etc. If they're gonna blow up the roster at least add characters like Fit buu, whis, a couple of the other gods of destruction, maybe all the kais that kid buu defeated and the one he absorbed to become fat buu, z sword gohan, etc

Besides, T3's roster really wasn't that big considering they strangely counted transformations as separate characters

Im not gona lie, never understood the hype for such a mediocre fighting series. Budakai 3 Was a better fighter than Tenkaichi 3, that only think tenkaichi had over other DBZ fighting games was the roster...which doesnt mean that much when a good number of characters were exact fighting copies of each other.
Better off with Budokai 4 or Dragonball Fighter Z 2. Hell I'd take Xenoverse 3 over this.
