Fan Recreates Entire GTA IV Map Using Unreal Engine 5

A Reddit user has showcased their talent by recreating the whole GTA IV map with the help of Unreal Engine 5.

Dandalandan117440d ago

GTA IV deserves a remaster/remake
GTA V was fun and all but GTA IV really felt like a next gen GTA when it was released
It also had more memorable characters

just_looken439d ago

Well they re released it on steam without online and it no longer crashes i managed to get off the first island something i have not done in 13yrs on pc.

But sadly grovestreet is rumored to be making a remaster/remake right now and gtaiv mods are being pulled down mod creators spanked like the 3 old games.

Dandalandan117439d ago

Aw hell no. Haven't they done enough damage already? C'mon Rockstar, anyone but Grovestreet Games please.

Profchaos439d ago

I played that re release it's still broken on modern rigs as frame rate is tied to button mashing objectives like in the final mission you need to mash space bar to climb into a chopper however this is impossible due to modern CPU architecture you need to pause the game go to task manager and restrict the cpu to a singular core with CPU affinity Resume game at 5 fps due to the heavy reliance rage has on CPU and physics engine climb in then reverse the change.

If not you will never ever mash the button fast enough there's so many steam community complaints on this and it was never fixed.

The re release basically removed a bunch of music and mp but gave owners all DLC free and brought 8t into the one game.

sadraiden439d ago

Just buy GTA4 on 360, pop it into any xbox.

The licenses for the music are all expiring and R* isn't renewing them. A remaster/remake would have none of the music you remember. Remaking a game that exists on a modern HDMI capable console is just a waste of plastic.

Profchaos439d ago

Yeah agree. But it's like that for every gta game ever the best way to play is always by original disc on a console of the era e.g gta vc on PS2, Xbox of and PC of you have the install discs.

I'm fortunate to have the original discs for PS3, PC and 360 I was something of a mega fan of gta iv and played every version on original hardware but didn't like v all that much. Still getting in a chopper and flying at sunset while 1979 plays is still one of my favourite things in gaming.

Demetrius439d ago

The original rockstar woulda been made gta 4 remaster at his level right along with a next gta title I miss that staff

isarai439d ago

"Recreates"is a stretch, he imported the asset from the game

ANIALATOR136439d ago

Was gonna say. Impossible for one person to create a whole city. No, he took someone elses work and just put it in a different engine

CantThinkOfAUsername439d ago

My man spent 10 months to get called out like this. He's not your average Joe jumping on UE5 hype. He makes and sells maps for a couple of thousands a year. He created everything in blender then ported them over to UE5 using Datasmith exporter plugin. A seasoned map modder, you could say. He said the map still needs a ridiculous amount of work, and if you watched his showcase you could see plenty of low poly models that he's going to replace later.

isarai439d ago

Yeah, i know, my statement is still true. He did not "recreate" it, this is almost the 1st step to recreating it. That's like buying all your ingredients and saying "look i cooked dinner" before you done anything else. Poor wording in the title should be changed.

Fan mods GTA 5 map for use in UE5 - Corrected.

Words matter exputer.com. :/ Don’t go full-Elon on the modder’s behalf.

I love these projects that let Rockstar know there's still a passionate fanbase for IV and it's but all sanity v it feels like UV is the forgotten game in many ways especially as they did nothing but even a tweet for its tenth anniversary.

GTA IV felt like a game that was so far above the competition in 2008 it for me felt like the first true at the time next gen game.

Not only that but it pushes so many boundaries of the franchise it was truely a masterpiece that I still happily fire up and replay regularly along with its DLC it's really a game of the parts and if you didn't play the DLC you have no right to trash the story because it's pulp fiction intertwined story only really comes together after playing all the content otherwise there's so many holes the only flaw with the gameplay is the 20 odd missions that are basically tutorial missions in the main story and I think that's why the game got a bad wrap once you got involved with Dimitri and cross that bridge that's when it kicks off.

If this got a remaster or y bother to finish the leaked one I'd buy it on every system it's on and play it until my thumbs bleed it's that good. Not just arguably the be best games in the franchise for me but the best games in general.

Looking Back At 2008, An Unbelievably Incredible Year Of Video Game Releases

Huzaifa from eXputer: "2008 was home to the likes of Call of Duty: World at War, Dead Space, GTA 4, Far Cry 2, Left 4 Dead, and many other hits, which is outright remarkable."

ChasterMies1d 16h ago

Some of these low paid video game “news” writers weren’t born before 2007.

just_looken1d 11h ago

Here here

Those that were around before 2000's i am sure are like me that think we entered a world of non readers or those that follow without question.

I can not wait to see fallout 3 a goty game even though it was about water with non content until you add the dlc/updates then you got the performance/crashing

CrimsonWing692d ago

I don’t think anything can compare to 2023

lucasnooker2d ago

1998 - the best year in gaming! Metal gear solid, crash bandicoot 3, medievil, half life, ocarina of time, thief, tenchu, resident evil 2, Spyro, tomb raider 3, oddworld abes exodus, banjo kazooie.

It was a different breed of a gaming era. You’ll never understand what it was like back then. The aura of gaming, it was different!

KyRo2d ago (Edited 2d ago )

I second this. Gaming was a lot more varied and fun than it is today. I'm 35 so getting on compared to some here but I got to see all the changes from NES up to now but I've never felt so disappointed in any generation than I have this current gen. I was expecting more from this generation rather than prettier versions of games that came before it. Game mechanics have become so refined that alot of games feel the same and has done for a while now.

Maybe it's time to have a break for a while. I love gaming but I don't feel I get much fun in the traditional sense out of it anymore.

CrimsonWing692d ago (Edited 2d ago )

Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil 2, Abe’s Exodus, and Ocarina of Time are the only things from that list that I liked.

Here’s the 2023 game releases that I personally liked… and big releases that I didn’t care for:

- Dead Space Remake
- Wo Long Dynatsy
- Resident Evil 4 Remake
- Diablo 4
- Fire Emblem Engage
- Hogwarts Legcay
- Street Fighter 6
- Hi-Fi Rush
- Like a Dragon: Ishin
- Octopath Traveler 2
- Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters
- Final Fanatsy XVI (actually ended up not liking this, but it was still a big deal release)
- Baldur’s Gate 3
- Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon
- Lies of P
- Mortal Kombat 1
- Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
- Starfield (Ended up hating this one, but big release)
- Super Mario Bros. Wonder
- Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (I’m an old-school Zelda fan, but didn’t really enjoy this game)
- Alan Wake 2

I mean, honestly I’ve never seen a year of major IP releases like that, ever.

Profchaos1d 23h ago (Edited 1d 23h ago )

Isn't it just a generational thing realistically.

I've been gaming since way back and I some of my favourite games go as far back as the late 80s for me each generation has a year or two of game changing releases one after another before an inevitable dry spell.

I kind of agree gaming had a different feel games hit different because we didn't have the internet nothing got spoiled and you really had to put in the effort to beat a puzzle which could set entire groups of people looking for a solution. But most importantly games were experimental and not as cookie cutter as today even basics like controls were not universal today r2 is shoot l2 is ads garunteed you can't deviate from that in a shooter back then it could of been square, R1 or R1 and circle nothing was standard.

But as time moves on a new generation picks up their controller they are going to be interested in different things that PS1 demo disc with the t Rex blew our primitive 16 bit brains back on launch but to kids today it's laughable.
The new gen of kids coming into to hobby seem to value different things to us there seems to be a huge focus on online play, streamers, gaming personalities, and social experiences, convience of digital downloads. To me I value none of that but that's ok like my parents not liking the band's I would listen to its just the natural cycle.

Gameseeker_Frampt1d 15h ago

Just about every year in the 7th generation was great and something we most likely won't experience again.

2009 for example had Assassin's Creed 2, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Dragon Age: Origins, Uncharted 2, Halo 3: ODST, Killzone 2, Borderlands, Bayonetta, and Demon's Souls to name a few.

just_looken1d 11h ago

It still amazes me we got over 7 rockstar games ps2/ps3 but 3 for the ps3/ps4/ps5

Dragon age 1-3 and mass effect 1-3 in 7ish years what a generation.

cammers1995360d ago
