Atari is Not Dead

After reading some really terrible articles, or should we say click bait, that made us sick to our stomach.

I don't respect any of those websites you mentioned in the video. Including Gamespot that is mentioned. I don't go there for information even if they were better in their article about it. So, I would have ignored what the other sites have said just for clicks.

The company's NAME isn't dead. But look bro... ATARI IS DEAD. They died years ago. Like you said, do some homework. The Atari you know today is in name only. Infogrames is not Atari from years ago. Atari's previous consoles are dead. The original company is dead and their new console is dead from a company in name only. That's just being real. Keeping the name alive doesn't mean Atari isn't dead. They're dead. Being a fan doesn't change the truth even if websites are doing click bait about the current console release. My second console was Atari 2600 after my Pong system. Still got them and they still work. I'm a fan too. But ATARI is dead.

Long live Atari. Lol.

I remember I was about 5 ish. Must of been before I started kindergarten. I would get sent to bed. Wait up in bed until everyone went to bed. Go out to the living room and be up playing atari for hours. One game I cannot remember the name was my favorite , you drop down from the top of the screen and had to get to the bottom. Dude had like a helicopter wing hat or something. So fun.

You were playing Hero from Activision. Love that game. Still got it. I would race through the levels shooting lasers and planting dynamite just to save the people below and get good times. https://youtu.be/G3cL-PFXf4...

Activision was on a roll back then with their releases. Now, the new Activision is on the verge of being bought. Crazy how long it's been.

shinoff2183491d ago

Thanks apocalypseshadow. I'm gonna check it out , a certain way and reminisce lol

ApocalypseShadow489d ago

I know what you mean. I reminisce all the time with old school memories... Wink!

There's always pulling out the systems from the closet. But modern times allow us to reminisce in certain ways. In often better resolution. Lol. You wouldn't believe what I carry with me everywhere I go. Crazy how far we've come that I can do that.

HeliosHex492d ago

@apocalypse. Well said. I couldn't agree more.

When your newest 50th anniversary ensemble of games arrives from Atari sporting Jaguar classics and they deliver it to other consoles first....yeah, they got some problems. Atari's official response on SM was, that current VCS owners will get it with a discount "when it comes out". What's the hold up "Atari"?

gangsta_red492d ago

Here's the thing, there's always some company that comes along and buys the name and tries to revive it for copyright reasons and puts out a half assed attempt to keep the name alive. I remember when I worked at Infograms and they bought the name Atari, and it just continued from there.

It's a scam job for anyone who wants to make a buck cheap with a nostalgic name in gaming.

ApocalypseShadow492d ago

Red, you worked at infogrames? Crazy. We're old.

TheColbertinator491d ago

I'm hoping you worked on the original Alone in the Dark or Driver

gangsta_red491d ago

I actually worked on Driver 3 and got to meet Michael Madsen and Michelle Rodriguez

TheColbertinator490d ago

Yes! You beautiful bastard. I liked Driver 3 despite the clunky shooting

Atari has been dead for a long time . They may release something from time to time with new ownership but they don’t really offer anything worthwhile or meaningful besides a compilation of games from 40 years ago.

BrainSyphoned492d ago

Sucks when you realize your truth doesn't hold up to closer inspection. Hope you get over your illness, nowhere but up from being an Atari Shill.

JackBNimble491d ago

I agree, your truth doesn't equal the truth. Atari died 40 years ago .

Atari *is* dead. The current company using the name is not Atari at all. It's like the new Delorean company making that EV, it isn't Delorean. It's just some other company that bought the name.

ZeekQuattro446d ago

It doesn't help when the original Atari pretty much died years and years ago and then another company Infrogrames or however it was spelled changed its name to Atari despite not having anything to do with Atari. Its any wonder why there's so much misinformation.

The Atari that hold a much bigger footprint in the industry is dead, as a publisher they're still around.

" As of 2022, the current Atari is pursuing several lines of business outside of video gaming, including cryptocurrency[15][16] and video-game themed hotels.[17] "

It might not even publish games anymore but that's the last I heard about them so I guess it's not even a videogame company anymore.

"It might not even publish games anymore but that's the last I heard about them so I guess it's not even a videogame company anymore."

Huh? Did you actually watch my video?

Gwiz445d ago (Edited 445d ago )

No I didn't but like I said " guess "..

Atari might not be dead but it's not even part of the gaming conversation anymore.
Getting back onto the big stage could happen if they started to attend E3 while others are no longer showing up.
It's easier said than done, especially financially.
