Say I don't want to game on PC, but secretly am really jealous of what you can do with PC even harder.

Consoles are almost always outdated the moment they hit shelves.
And no. You don't need to spend 2 grand to outperform them.

Deal with it or upgrade. You're the one who expects amazing performance and wants it to last for the better part of a decade for $500.

anast602d ago

I would love to see someone put together a $500 PC that can outperform a PS5 or SX. It's around $1600.

MadLad602d ago

@anast

It doesn't take $1600 to outperform the current consoles unless you're really, really trying to make a needlessly expensive build.

Azurite602d ago

The msrp wasn't that bad but availability made the price shoot through the roof.

CaptainHenry916603d ago

Hopefully they show the rtx 4080 and reveal the price

NoFanBoy602d ago

$1200 , 12GB is really a 4070Ti at $900

masterfox602d ago

maybe finally after almost 15 years we will see a Next gen PC game, fingers crossed.

JBplusVB602d ago

Valve will be back with something crazy. It's just a question of when lol.

Shiore2u602d ago (Edited 602d ago )

Of course by the console standard of "next gen" you mean, which tends to be anything but innovative. Just boring predictable narratives with par the course minimum gameplay and performance only bearable if you have no reference to what's actually good by modern hardware standards, then there's the proprietary platform corporate shenanigans...really don't know how you can live like that.

masterfox602d ago

"which tends to be anything but innovative"

PS5 almost none existent load times say Hi .

Shiore2u602d ago (Edited 602d ago )

@masterfox

M.2s didn't start on PS5 kid. That's something that's been on PC for years that technologically inept individuals such as yourself coming from slow ass laptop hard drives in older consoles think is something state of the art and unique when it really isn't.

masterfox601d ago

@shiore

I wont even explain to you the level of ignorance you are portraying if you are saying a PC M2 or Ssd are similar to one found in the PS5 in the way the Data is accesed.

Keep living with your ignorance ;)

Shiore2u601d ago (Edited 601d ago )

@masterfox
It's the same hardware. How it's accessed isn't unique either. If you project any harder you won't need your input lag tv anymore. Look forward to you humiliating yourself yet again.

Not while the majority of pc users have a 120gb SSD for the OS and a slow as they come HDD for the games.

Bobertt602d ago

According to the leaks the 4000 series costs a lot more to make than previous gens due to the complicated cooling solutions needed for their increased power draw so they are likely to be more expensive than 3000 series. There is also the issue of all the used mining cards about to flood the market and leftover supply of 3000 series cards. They have to price the 4070 and above higher than whatever they will drop the 3090 to or they will cannibalize the 3000 series. Supposedly they will release a 4080 12Gb and 16Gb. The 12Gb will actually be the 4070 or 4070 Ti but they will call it 4080 to justify the higher price they will charge to keep it above the 3090.

NoFanBoy602d ago

Yeah $900 for 12GB! so what the 4070 will actually be a 4060 and be 10GB for $600-700.

Bobertt602d ago (Edited 602d ago )

The 4090 was cheaper than i expected but still more expensive than the 3090 at launch. The 4080 is way more expensive on both models. 3070ti was $600 and the 3080 was $700 now the 4080 12GB is $900 and 16Gb is $1200. Hopefully AMD has something close in performance for a better price.

ABizzel1602d ago

Unfortunately, I doubt AMD will be far off even though I truly hope they are. For some companies selling fewer product at higher profit margins is just as good if not better than selling more product at lower profit margins. The reason is you can sell high and always drop the cost down to still claim consumers at a later time, and keep margins high, whereas, a lower price leaves little room for price drops. Not to mention AMD has some hurdles to overcome as they have now been left in the dust when it comes to Raytracing considering NVIDIA is 3+ generations ahead of them there, and rasterization might go to NVIDIA as well considering both are now on the same node when NVIDIA won the crown with the RTX 3000 while being on a higher and less efficient node.

AMD needs to invalidate the value of the RTX 4000 series by striking a balance of price : perforamce : TDP : Ray tracing. If they can do that this is the generation they can strike gold, but that balance is a delicate one, and NVIDIA can drop its price too if they feel pressured.

If they try to undercut NVIDIA on a smaller scale like having the 7900XT performance on par with the RTX 4090 but with less Ray Tracing and machine learning, and sell it at $1499 then they're spending another generation a distance second with 20% marketshare maybe significantly less thanks to used RTX 3000 series flooding the market.

AMD needs:

RX 7800XT: $999, 24GB GDDR6x, RTX 4080 16GB rastierzation or better, RTX 3000 RT performance, 350w.
(Invalidate the RTX 4080 16GB and 4080 12GB aka overpriced 4070 ti)

RX 7800: $749, 24GB GDDR6/x, RTX 3090ti equivalent, 300w
(Invalidates the RTX 3090 / 3090ti)

Sony States We Will Know More About the "Long-Term Vision" of PlayStation Later This Month

Sony has confirmed that there is something happening later this month and it involves SIE which is the division that operates PlayStation.

Skuletor22h ago

My guess, is they were waiting for the new CEO position to be finalized before their next showcase and now that's out of the way.

neutralgamer199222h ago

Yes I think you are right. They wanted the leadership in place hopefully now they can give a strong showing of what’s to come

S2Killinit21h ago

Its not confirmed that this will involve game announcements.

Cacabunga21h ago

Tbh this claim doesn’t reassure me at all..

Eonjay16h ago(Edited 16h ago)

@S2Killinit

If this is about games that worries me because I thought they were walking away from announcing titles far in advance. For them to say 'Long Term Vision' sounds like we are getting announcements years in advance. I don't want that. Lets hope the long term vision part refers to their goal for the company and that they also give us info on projects reaching fruition in the short term.

Also, this is gonna be where we find out that they are going full PC day and date (or greatly reduced if they don't have the capacity at their studios). Its gonna happen. Why? Because all you have to do is look at Helldivers... fastest selling PlayStation game ever. And they make good games. They will sell.
Now we can fight over whether this will hurt the console space. I don't think so as long as they provide an option that will allow people to come close to maxing out their graphics... ergo the PRO.

StormSnooper10h ago

@Eonjoy
I think MS already made that decision for ALL consoles when they went full PC. There is no way other consoles can stay away from PC when their competitor decides to treat PC and Xbox the same. If eventually Sony and possibly even Ninty don’t go PC, they would be handing an advantage to MS. Unfortunately

Sounds good, PS5 Pro preorders. Let’s do this!

Crows9021h ago

I don't get it....we barely got any ps5 exclusives and people already want a refresh??

crazyCoconuts21h ago

When they show GTA6 on the Pro I think you'll get it

VersusDMC20h ago

Pretty sure we got 5 console exclusives this year so far and 3rd party games took advantage of the PS4pro last gen so it will happen with the PS5pro as well.

romulus2320h ago

I don't get it either but people get new iphones the second they come out even though they just bought the previous one which works just fine. Some people just want the latest and greatest no matter what and have the income to do it. If the improvement to games is significant enough I may get one but probably not at launch.

-Foxtrot20h ago

Exactly

I will always be behind the idea that one of the reasons why this gen doesn't feel as much of a leap is because we kind of got spoilt with the PS4 Pro last gen. It was like a teaser to this gen.

Looking back on a technological leap after 7 years is way more impressive than if it was 3 or so.

Crows9014h ago

@versus

You're making this out to be something it isn't. I think it's stupid that sony themselves have barely put out any exclusives that can only run on the ps5 and we already have calls for a "pro" version...that is mindblowingly dumb in my opinion

Einhander197212h ago(Edited 12h ago)

People come up with the silliest reasons to claim the console isn't needed, exclusives made by Sony don't matter, third party games are like 500 to 1 even in the best year.

And since PS1 PlayStation has relied on third party publishing deals, the vast vast majority of games that people see as PlayStation games were made by third party developers published by Sony, Insomniac only recently became a PlayStation studio all their games made before that were as a third party.

PS5 Pro is the same as a graphics card upgrade that no one ever complains about like this, and it's way cheaper performance per dollar than a CPU.

Doubt you're getting a pro annoucement in a business update

InUrFoxHole2h ago

Hard pass. They haven't even made the most out of the base ps5

anast22h ago

Big things right around the corner.

purple10122h ago

Almost optimistic to say, but those leaks of the 6 cancelled games (games that were not even announced)

yeh, maybe some didn't actually get cancelled after all

notachance22h ago

as a long time ps fans I hope they still put great single player games front and center, make your live service games if you have to but don’t force your 1st party studios to make something they don’t want to.. redfall is an unfortunate example of a good studio forced to basically destroy themselves.

Eonjay16h ago

Good points. How would you feel if Sony decided to put their single player games on PC day and date? This would allow their studios making single player games to recoup more money to keep the games coming. If it works with GaaS why not single player?

notachance13h ago(Edited 13h ago)

If they do that, it’s just a matter of time before someone make a console using PC as a platform, then that console would automatically have the full PC games (which means combined PS, PC, and Xbox games) as a library.

In fact, who’s to say steam aren’t working at it right now lol, just imagine it, something with the ease of use of console that can play both ps and xbox games day 1.. combined with the marketbase of steam, there’s the new king of console.

Or better yet, Nintendo would do it and there will finally be one console that can play it all..

Ps: on the topic of games releasing day and date, you could argue that by delaying PC release date there will be a few people who double dipped on buying games, just like what good ol rockstar loved doing with their games..

fr0sty9h ago

PC PS5 ports lack certain features, like the 3D audio and controller haptic support...so there will always be reasons to play PS5 games on a PS5.
