Rockstar Games comments on recent leak

It always looked too good to be fake. Personally I'm really glad with what I saw, it looks like it's gonna be another great game from rockstar. Though they confirmed this, I do hope there will truly be no extra delays because of the leaks

Yeah that was a very classy response. Acknowledge the leak, don't make it out to be a big deal, and assure the fans that development continues as normal. That's pretty much the best thing they could have done.

For me personally the leak actually confirmed that Rockstar is still on the right track, even with different people leading the project. The level of detail they've added to the robbery mechanics for example, going prone, the look and feel of the world, etc. GTA VI seems like it'll be a much deeper experience with no shortage of little details to flesh everything out.

It’s there fault if they didn’t show anything about gta 6. Hacker had to do something I hope it’s gonna happen more and more when dev annonce game but don’t show anything for years

On a other hand, I hope this time around the get character customization. 2 white character don’t make sense … I want to play a Asian if I want to or a Afro girl if I want to.

Don't like forced characters in a game than enjoy saints row.

Rockstar make narrative driven games such include characters backgrounds, families, desires and motivations. In fact the biggest part of a character is family in gta in my opinion.

Because letting you be anyone means thsg can't build characters like the Vance brothers, cj and his family which was the entire san andreas story if they were hispanic instead sweet wouldnt have a problem with ceaser at the start. And the biggest one niko and his cousin escaping the balkin war wouldn't make any sense if they were not natively from Eastern Europe.

You'll get online which will have some freedom in character design but look at the story in chose your character games they are not narratively deep they add often person x gets in trouble and needs surgery design them and their background is never discussed again.

Yea, no. That leak made its way across MANY game news outlets and social media outlets like Facebook and twitter. Hell Reddit had a field day with it and had thousands upon thousands of comments on just one of the dozens of threads that each had thousands of comments and upvotes themselves. This thing got out like wildfire.

A vast majority of my friends are gamers and they all heard about the leak from social media. As I already said, sites like Facebook and Twitter was circulating this leak like crazy. Which literally most gamers have access to Reddit is only one of the social outlets I mentioned.

YouTube is another outlet which was circulating this leak just as badly with some videos reaching millions of views. So the fact that these outlets have the leak present and is gaining such traction tells me that “most gamers” have indeed heard about and do care about the leak, otherwise the sources would not be getting so many views and comments.

You guys are the leading example of this website and it’s users believe you make up the voices for the majority or minority of gamers and think that “if I say the majority of gamers do not care and give no source for my claim, that means it’s true”

Some ppl are rather naive to think that this leak was an accident. All products this large have advertising campaigns with detailed plans for how they're going to hype it up prior to release. This is likely nothing more than a simple "Hey guys this game is in development, don't forget!" This will probably have no affect on the development schedule, and if it does, it's because they required more time and needed a good excuse that their investors would be sympathetic to, not because a hacker forced them to rewrite the code.

This wasn't a on purpose leak it was obtained via a highly critical slack exploit. What was leaked was of poor quality so why would rockstar or take two who.are extremely secretive and perfectionists show the game like this.
Rockstar has made take two billions they will happily give them a decade or more to.dev the game

This was likely the exploit the theif took advantage of. I'd never call him a hacker he's not a security researcher just someone who took a pre existing poc and applied it he's a threat actor at best but I'd call him a their anyway.

Sounds like they're upset they have to show the game odd earlier than expected. They might officially show it off next year sometime.

They don't want ppl thinking that early footage is their final build. Yes we know it's early footage but there masses will see it and get discouraged. Like I said they'll probably give updates earlier than expected now. Something they don't want to do but probably feel like they have to do now.

This was a great response to the fans, it reassures most of our fears about this horrible situation. The hacker is just a looser trying to get money, I hope he gets absolutely nothing but jail time and is punished to the very extent of the law. I watched all 90 videos and nothing was spoiled other than the look of the characters (subject to change) if anything it makes me want the game even more now.

This is part of the issue that arises when things like this get leaked. Especially leaked information for a game that is not even close to being finished. People are already drawing opinions on graphics, gameplay, characters, what they like and what they don’t like about the stolen footage they have seen. The issue is that the information should never have been stolen in the first place. If Rockstar wanted you to see this footage they would have released it themselves. They aren’t ready to release anything on the game yet because it is a hard work in progress. I’ve read opinions of how some gamers “will not buy it” because it looks last generation. It’s not finished!!!! Let Rockstar show you what they want to show you. This entire thing is disgusting. I feel violated and it didn’t even happen to me.

Wonder if this will make them handle their future releases differently. People are so starved for any info about R* titles and they are notoriously tight lipped. Maybe if they had, oh I don’t know, at least verified GTA6 was in development, a leak showing it’s existence wouldn’t have been such big news.
