Former Uncharted lead Amy Hennig returns to Star Wars with a new game

From Polygon: "A new Star Wars game is in development at Skydance New Media, the interactive studio founded in 2019 by game director Amy Hennig, Lucasfilm Games and Skydance announced Tuesday. It’s a return to the Star Wars franchise for Hennig, who had previously worked with the franchise at EA’s Visceral Games on an ambitious (but ultimately canceled) project set in a galaxy far, far away.

Skydance New Media describes its untitled Star Wars project as a “richly cinematic action-adventure game featuring an original story,” but did not reveal specifics. No title, release date, or platforms were announced.

“I’ve often described how seeing Star Wars in 1977 essentially rewired my 12-year-old brain, shaping my creative life and future indelibly,” Hennig said in a news release. “I’m elated to be working with Lucasfilm Games again to tell interactive stories in this galaxy that I love.”"

Amy Hennig is an accomplished creator and the director of the fantastic Uncharted games. EA made a big mistake in shutting down her 'ragtag' Star Wars game; it lost out on profits and the public missed out what had the potential to be a great game. I'm glad Hennig's got another chance as she brings an experience and understanding of gameplay and story and I'm already looking forward to it.

rippermcrip739d ago

You just have some big insider info on "ragtag" to know how much they missed out on.

Really glad she's back

Hopefully it's something like 1313

TricksterArrow739d ago

Let's hope it's more like Uncharted 2, and less like Uncharted 3, in which she was the solo writer and lead director.

Ausbo739d ago

I agree uncharted 2 was better, but let’s not act like uncharted 3 isn’t also really great

cerpintaxt44738d ago

uncharted 3 kicked ass though ill agree 2 was better

ClayRules2012739d ago

Me too.

I hope so, that looked good and had potential.

Orchard739d ago

I’m getting a bit of Star Wars fatigue between games, movies and TV shows - but I am interested to see what she can do with the Star Wars IP.

SonyStyled738d ago

In that case you might want to keep track of Quantic Dreams project as well

ClayRules2012738d ago

I wonder, will Quantic Dreams project get finished? After that news that came out weeks or a month ago about it not being far in development and not many being involved with the project, and delayed for years etc. I don’t know. I hope it’ll still happen.

Majin-vegeta738d ago

Seems like Disney wants a SW game every 6 months to be released

darthv72739d ago

She had a hand in the Uncharted series and Im guessing that due to the success of Fallen Order, she is wanting to take a crack at mixing Uncharted with Star Wars (which FO could sort of be likened to). i know it may be a long shot but 1313 had potential. If she was able to retain the rights to it then maybe this will be a revival of that project.

Should have happened a long time ago. People wanting refunds after 50 hours in game.

fsfsxii6h ago

Pc gamers will take this as an excuse to pirate things

KyRo5h ago

I'm not sure why you're getting disgrees. Whilst not all PC gamers are petty, an awful lot of them are lol

Crows905h ago

Entirely untrue. Not any more petty than console gamers. The only large difference is console gamers don't have much of a choice.

qalpha5h ago

Daily reminder that 'TheGamer' is a corporate-generated, anti-gamer, anti-consumer, clickbait web site. They are mostly A.I. generated articles that villainize gamers. They provide nothing positive and actively try to provoke and divide the community through extreme view points and politics. Do not give them any clicks.

Inverno5h ago

Only scumbags? As if people don't play their games on console put in the most amount of hours and return it to GameStop and trade it in for another game. But also how many people are actually do this? And what games have been allowed to be refunded?

DustMan5h ago

You can refund any game you've purchased as long as it hasn't been longer than two weeks, and you've played less than 2 hours. I wish they would change it to 3 hours because some RPG's have so much exposition that you may only get an hour total of complete gameplay. That's my only knock on it. I've refunded plenty of stuff I was just curious to try. I typically stay away from Early Access titles which are the only ones affected by this policy change.

Inverno4h ago

Apparently early access doesn't count, only complete games with a play early preorder bonus.

Gaming4Life19815h ago

I definitely know if I want a refund in 2 hours.

Inverno5h ago

Dayum did I hit a nerve. Sorry for not liking most of this gens games coming from PS, not really doe.

Cacabunga1d 1h ago

Hopefully doesn’t take them a complete gen to release it

TheColbertinator19h ago

Good. Something not boring, not one of those "make your own game" crap and also on Steam would be nice.

I too like to look for things in the wrong places.

"the capital group of PCF Group S.A."

If you're getting funding from a group that needs two different ways of Acronyming itself, things will not go the way you want them to.

banger881d 22h ago

If it was more online-only crap then good riddance.

jjb19811d 9h ago

Outriders was crap. They slapped that game together and threw in a loot system to get players' attention. This game was absolutely jank and the always online nonsense made it stutter like crazy. People Can't Optimize.

thorstein1d 8h ago

I liked Outriders but I could see where the artistic vision was compromised. The way the industry is now, it wouldn't surprise me that upper management would scrap something that didn't pull in money via gaas, mts, or other means.
