State of BioWare and Looking Ahead

It’s been just over a year since I took over as General Manager of BioWare. As we start the new year, I wanted to take the opportunity to look back on 2021, talk about where we are as a studio right now, and share some thoughts and plans for the future.

Here's hoping they can regain their original magic. Although, we have heard all this before. No more words, just action.

Umm. The state of them is dead. Play Greedfall if you want an RPG in the style of Bioware with good writing.

I must have missed something. I found greed fall bland and boring and I wouldn't say the story was good either.

Good fall was boring, if you want a RPG that reminds you of older BioWare, play Divinity 2

Bioware are not the same as they use to be most of the talent and original staff left many moons ago. They botched Anthem, they botched ME Andromeda the new ME game they are working on I am on the fence about.

After 2 massive botches you are on the fence about a game you havent even.

Even what? Seen, played, held, watched, bought. And yes 2 botched games will leave me on the fence you can day one it if you want but I am more cautious nowadays especially when games have gone up $10 in price for a new title.

I’d say it’s a sentiment shared by 90% of the gaming community. Epic fails, questionable design and general business decisions and departures of key staff. It’s foolish for any of us to not consider BioWares future as “in the balance” at the very very least.

I’d go as far as considering them almost as a new unproven studio. Everyone’s left, and all the new games have been trash.

And btw im on your side of the matter...just found it funny that youre even on the fence...I'd be nowhere close to the fence.

Check Archetype Entertainment. Comprised mostly of ex-BioWare. Can call it the 'new-Bioware'.
They are currently working on a sci-fi RPG.
Should be able to bring back that Bioware magic.

The Bioware that made Bioware is dead, it's EAware now and it shows.

It's going to be hard to return to that universe and have a threat equal to or greater to the reapers, and that can tank any new games.

After they gave us the Mass Effect Legendary Edition I couldn't careless what happens to Bioware at this point. At least 90% of the old guard is gone and have zero direction. Unless they're willing to give us Dragon Age remasters I don't expect much from them at this point.

BioWare had some cool games in the past but I’m not sure they can make great games being under EA . It’s more EA than BioWare now if they have any BioWare left in them at all besides the name . Make a game like Mass Effect one I’d be happy but I’d guess they will make it more like 3 instead . Sad how some companies buy up other companies and they slowly kill what they once were .
