Here is how Halo Infinite Campaign Gameplay looks in Native 4K60fps using Max Settings - RTX 3090

CG writes: 343 Industries released Halo Infinite campaign this week for the masses. Whilst it’s not the best looking game we have ever seen, it does present some great looking moments. Take a look at our Halo Infinite campaign gameplay video showcasing it running on PC using max settings in 4K resolution using an RTX 3090.

Loving it so far. The mp is solid too.

LordoftheCritics873d ago (Edited 873d ago )

Its become my fav shooter of the year and possibly my fav game this year.

The gameplay is spot on.

I play it like a maniac, I dont even remember what linear means when playing this game.
Can't wait to upgrade all the abilities. Right now I'm playing it like Titanfall, maybe even crazier.

InUrFoxHole873d ago

Lol that's awesome. I've done the 1st mission. I'm trying to cap all fobs and save all the marines 1st

4Sh0w873d ago (Edited 873d ago )

The story so far is interesting but I'm taking my time. Im about 12 hrs in, so much to do, I love to just grapple around and see what I can discover or call in a Warthog, recruit a few Marines so we can go in blazing a FOB & save more Marines. The Brutes are a mofo & the Bosses so far make for some tough well earned victories. Ok so my biggest complaint is I really wish the environments had more variety, imagine some snow & desrt areas??? Other than that I just love Halo in this new open world. I dont know yet but this might just be the best Halo to me since Halo2...definitely my favorite game this year.

Tapani874d ago (Edited 874d ago )

I like the campaign!

Running heavy undervolt and watercooled on 6900xt 100-170W, 5600X 30-40W, the game runs at 4K60 dynamic (doesn’t drop res almost at all), all maxed out. I had to uninstall the HD Texture pack because it caused heavy stutters and fps drops, can’t see the difference, but runs 30% faster with much less stutters.

Halo Infinite is very badly optimized, but you can get a good experience if you learn what the settings do. Vsync, Dynamic Scaling and HD Texture pack are broken.

CaptainHenry916873d ago (Edited 873d ago )

I turned off Vsync and kept the fps unlocked.. I'm getting way over 60fps with Vsync turned off but it doesn't make it look better

Tapani873d ago

That will also get rid of some of the stutterings, as Vsync is broken when used with the HD Texture pack. With unlocked framerate I get a huge boost, but RTSS and Adrenalin control panel do not get me to a locked 60, at least not without screen tearing. HD Textures removed the game looks almost exactly the same but when Vsynced it's smooth. It also solves the streaming issues.

Elit3Nick873d ago

Huh, so the Texture pack is the culprit for my stutters then?

camel_toad873d ago

I had read where someone else was saying that the HD texture pack was the culprit but hadn't tried removing it yet. Running a rtx 3080 and it looks beautiful and runs smooth as butter until suddenly and out of nowhere it plummets and it stays plummeted.

I was going to put the game on the backburner until they ironed out the garbage optimization but I'll give it another try after hearing about your results. I was definitely having fun with it and it looked a lot better than I was expecting.

moriarty1889874d ago (Edited 874d ago )

Loving the campaign. Looks beautiful on my 4k telly. Very happy with how it looks and plays.

CaptainHenry916873d ago (Edited 873d ago )

The single player campaign is a 6/10 for me. The first hour or so before you get into the open world is a boring slog. Some of it looks good but some of it looks really bad. The animations on some of the enemies looks good but the cutscenes are pretty horrible. The main bad guy is cliche and seems very one dimensional. I don't really care about his threats, who he is, or anything about him.

Once you get outside it does get better but it is just not that great. The open world looks okay but things in the distance look bad, some of the effects are terrible (tire tracks), and it just looks like a game from 4 years ago. I also find pilot annoying, he just complains the whole time and the open world is just okay. When I'm playing it I just keep thinking is this game better than other open world FPS games and I keep coming back to the same answer, no. It doesn't look better, the world isn't better, the story is weak, etc. If it wasn't Master Chief I think people wouldn't be giving this game anything above an 8, the nostalgia is definitely boosting a lot of these scores.

I would say if you aren't invested n the Halo universe then you're not going to love this game. You'll probably have a decent enough time but it really isn't all that. Don't trust anyone who's giving this game a 10/10, they have rose tinted glasses on in my opinion. Maybe the Xbox One and Series S held it back. I'm running it on a RTX3080

SurgicalMenace873d ago

Don't have 3080, yet, but it's on my X on an A90J. Just doesn't have the pop that others games do. Was hoping it made the greater features of my TV stand out but it just managed to show how many blemishes are present in the game.

I am going to finish it though, as it will be the only other Halo I've completed outside of CE.

IanTH873d ago (Edited 873d ago )

I agree, the game - at least in the opening hours - feels kind of flat. I'm playing on an LG C1 and, while it looked good, it lacked wow factor. It felt like the HDR was potentially broken or muted. Not sure, but it didn't stand out to me visually, which was a shame since it didn't stand out mechanically to me either.

Tacoboto873d ago

"he just complains the whole time"

You and Pilot have something in common then. You've been whining and moaning about Halo (and Xbox) for *months* almost daily on here.

CaptainHenry916873d ago (Edited 873d ago )

Here we go so predictable 😂😂 it's my opinion

DJStotty872d ago

@Captain

Just like your opinions on here, predictable....

Flawlessmic873d ago

While i agree with a lot of what you have said, At the end of the day gameplay is king and halos gameplay is simply just fun!! while the story and graphics might not be quite up to par the gameplay loop certainly is which is the most important thing.

Room for imrpovent for the next halo but 343 are definitely on the right track with this one

CaptainHenry916873d ago (Edited 873d ago )

I thought they were on the right track with Halo 4 at least the campaign mode was good and then Halo 5 comes out and only the multi-player was great. It's like 343 don't know how to make a great campaign and multi-player Halo at the same time or maybe it's just my opinion 🤔

TheDoomedGuy873d ago

Yes gameplay is king but at the end of the day the campaign is uninspired. While it gets a 10/10 on gameplay it gets something like a 6/10 for campaign story and atmosphere. It reminds me of the first halo but then I remember than the first halo was more interesting as it was the first time we got an fps like it.

TheDoomedGuy873d ago

The campaign is a bit of a bore. Im going around having fun but then I realize....whats the point? I could have the same fun if not more doing the multiplayer. Im playing campaign for story but theres not much depth here.

kfk873d ago

Yep, Xbox fanboys will be triggered but they can't actually argue against anything you said. I'm playing on PC as well, and it's a pretty mediocre game. Halo has always been bland sci-fi set dressing without big science fiction ideas, Master Chief is a boring, stereotypically gruff, bankrupt-personality protagonist, and the Banished are just as bland: we're tough and angry and hate humans, grrr! Still fighting mostly the same looking enemies from 20 years ago. The cinematography is middle of the road, and the story telling is amateurish: they try to drop a sappy emotional moment about the pilot's family less than five minutes into the game, and it falls flat because they've given the player no time to settle in or get to know the character.

And on top of all that, the game is poorly optimized on PC, especially compared to how good-not-great the graphics are and how prevalent the performance/stuttering issues are.

Michiel1989873d ago

someone voices his opinion that obviously not everyone agrees with, fair enough, then you say: "they cant actually argue against it", youre basically just saying: everyone with another opinion is wrong. Doesnt really make for a compelling argument my friend.

IanTH873d ago (Edited 873d ago )

I see you catching some flak, but I agree - not necessarily about the nostalgia or not trusting 10/10 reviews, just that I simply found it underhwhelming.

I was never a huge Halo guy, but I decided to try it on PC via Game Pass after all the good reviews. I just couldn't get into it. I don't like the way the shooting feels, I do wish it had true ADS instead of the weird mild zoom-in effect, it feels kind of...off? Like it's missing the little tweaks necessary to make controls feel tight & visceral. The grappling hook is a nice addition, giving you traversal options & the ability to smack enemy shields and stuff. I intended to at least make it to the open world part to try for a bit, but I just lost interest before I could get there.

I don't know what it is, but I just didn't really like it. I do feel like maybe I'm slowly drifting away from pure FPS games, so I'm sure that's partially it. Like I'm still good with Metro or Doom, but the standard FPS genre just doesn't do much for me anymore. So I may not be able to understand where someone is coming from when they say they think this is one of the best games they've played this year, but I'm more than happy for them all the same. It's definitely a situation that I chalk up to different strokes.

Desperate Xbox players turn to Halo Forge for their Helldivers 2 fix

PS5-exclusive Helldivers 2 is so popular that Xbox players want a taste of democracy, and now Halo Forge will be the battleground for a Helldivers 2 remake.

That's wild but hey if forge satisfies than that's good

GamerRN68d ago

Also.... Desperate Xbox players? I mean Helldivers2 looks ok, but I wouldn't call it anything to get desperate over..

God of War and the other exclusive are more worth desperation. I don't think I'm gonna even try Helldivers2, in still trying to beat Forbidden West, and I still of Ghosts, Ragnarok and TLOU2 to play

Old McGroin68d ago

Helldivers 2 is a phenomenally good game. You should definitely check it out if you get the chance. Looks like the devs have the server capacity issue pretty much sewn up now so it's a good time to jump in.

WolfSeed68d ago

You clearly haven't tried it. It's pure crack.

MrNinosan68d ago

I thought exactly like you, until I tried Helldivers 2... and then I was hooked.
The only thing that will stop me from playing it going forward is Final Fantasy VII Rebirth next week.

1Victor68d ago

@gamer: “Also.... Desperate Xbox players? I mean Helldivers2 looks ok”

Lest be honest for a minute even Phil want it on Xbox and if it wasn’t desperation the forge player wouldn’t be trying to copy it 🤷🏿

Barlos68d ago

Nobody is desperate over a game. Its pure clickbait.

TwoPicklesGood68d ago

I enjoy Helldivers 2 but it isn’t phenomenal or anything, its just a good game. Sure us ps5 players don’t have many multiplayer games so maybe that skews perspective. What we should be worrying about Is all the bugs and issues that STILL plague the game. It shouldn’t have been released in this state.

Helldivers 2 graphically makes halo on series x look 2 gen behind.

Rdeal68d ago

Are you saying Helldivers 2 graphics are better than Halo's? if so you need glasses , graphics has to be the worst part of Helldivers 2, I have seen better on the PS4

Hypertension14068d ago (Edited 68d ago )

@Rdeal

It's not the best looking game around
but the graphics definitely look better than halo infinite. The destruction on display while also maintaining a steady performance is also very impressive.

I've also seen better on PS4, but I say the same for almost every Xbox Series X game this generation.

Kiryu199268d ago

Why desperate Xbox fans? Why are we so split as a gaming community? So gamers wanting to play awesome games are not labeled desperate?

I don't think it's really unusual.

Or just get a PC because all Xbox and PS games are coming to it sooner or later. Nintendo's the only company practicing true exclusivity nowadays.

Sony's present said first party games will be on pc and other platforms too. So what? And before you say he just meant "pc and playstation" that was debunked. Day 1 pc is definitely coming from Sony, ending your precious exclusives.

I remember the good old days of Halo 3 and the Forge. Some wild game games came from it.

RaidenBlack69d ago

Just let Coalition develop or at least assist in developing the next Halo ... 343 alone is not enough

Jin_Sakai69d ago

They already assisted with development.

“Gears of War studio The Coalition helped out with Halo Infinite”

https://www.vg247.com/gears...

RaidenBlack68d ago

Then lead the next Halo development with 343 assisting instead ... as well as leverage some of the other new acquired studios if possible

neomahi67d ago

That would be smart, but makes too much sense. BUT, The Coalition is pretty much dead, without Rod Ferguson, there's nothing there. That was the point of that team was that he was heading it up but even Rod Ferguson turned down being the boss and head of his own studio making Microsoft money to go to Blizzard, and isn't it ironic, look where's he's at now. Cliff Blezinski offered to go back to work on Gears and Xbox (one of their biggest IPs) shut him down and told him no. Gears put Xbox on the map, and they told him no. Sony wouldn't tell David Jaffe no if he asked to return to God of War or Twisted Metal, Jaffe is just to lazy, but Xbox shut down Blezinski, completely shocked me.

So, you're right, kinda, but that blood isn't there anymore, the soul of that team is gone so I don't think you'd get the quality you think that you would

Jin_Sakai67d ago

“Then lead the next Halo development with 343 assisting instead ... as well as leverage some of the other new acquired studios if possible“

Certain Affinity would be good but who knows what’s happening there. And I’d suggest keeping CoD studios away from the franchise unless you want Halo of Duty.

Halo Infinite forge is a million times better. maps don't even look like forge made but look like actual dev created maps now

oh I bet, I just have fond memories of all the different things people came up with. I can only imagine what it's like now.

PhillyDonJawn68d ago

Hell yeah I remember the forge map toilet 😂 good times. Poo and paper everywhere

Blad3runner0069d ago

Don't get this mentality. Nothing is stopping these people from buying a PS5

I don't get fanboyism and refusing to purchase a competitors console.

purple10169d ago

I didn't used to get it, when is was Sega vs Nintendo, but now companies charging for online play, I dont wan to pay 2 separate subs, so you make a choice. also if you were to say invest in extra controllers for mates or whatever, I suppose it all adds up

anast69d ago

So, PS5 is the choice, right?

PhillyDonJawn69d ago (Edited 69d ago )

You're thinking too much into it. Forge creators make anything and everything. This is nothing new. Call of duty and other games have been made in halo forge as well. I was just playing Nuketown and hot potato 2 weeks ago lol (hot potato fun asf btw)

PaleMoonDeath69d ago

Not everyone can afford it mate, some have kids, families etc to support. Very close minded statement, adults don't necessarily care which machine, but money's tight nowadays, bring them Helldivers so we can get the damn Halo & Gears armour on PS5 lol

EvertonFC69d ago

I wanna see helgeist, scorpions, crimera, flying sting rays even some knack enemies etc

PaleMoonDeath69d ago

@Everton, DUDE! KILLZONE 2 HELGHAST SKINS! COULD YOU IMAGINE

Charlieboy33368d ago

They hate Playstation to the point of insanity....yet want a Playstation game on Xbox so bad. These people don't even make sense in their OWN minds...

68d ago
EvertonFC68d ago (Edited 68d ago )

Agreed fella, same can be said for the playstation lot too though lol. We would all be over a gears collection, halo collection, Forza and ori

DivineHand12568d ago

I hope all the persons who agreed with you have an Xbox. Being a multi-console owner is the best thing for a gamer. When Palworld came out I could boot up the Xbox and play it there. I also just started playing Helldivers 2 yesterday and I am having a great time with it.

The gunplay is good so persons who are on the fence for this reason, don't be. The gunplay in this can go up against Halo, Destiny, The Division 2 etc. The gameplay loop is also good with a reasonable progression system. It doesn't have any RPG mechanics so don't expect to see numbers popping up when you shoot an enemy. Progression in this game allows you to unlock cosmetics, weapons and air drops from orbit to aid you on your mission.

HA! All the while Xbox games are popping up in PS stores. To be honest, on day exclusivity will probably be gone and each will just provide a streaming service bundle, but why not have fun while we can.

crazyCoconuts69d ago

And to get you to pick one streaming service over another they would have....

anast69d ago (Edited 68d ago )

You do know how to ask direct questions, right? This is a serious question.

They would have different app features, different UI's, timed exclusivity, and different video game series (live action and animation). Also the streaming services would be tied to mobile phones of choice (Sony vs MS; maybe even Nintendo will get in on this, phone thing.) which have their own reasons for purchasing.

Of course this is in the distant future. They don't call me the Oracle for no reason.

crazyCoconuts68d ago

Exclusives... The answer was exclusives.
But, you being the Oracle you already knew that, didn't you?

anast68d ago

"one day exclusivity will probably be gone"

Yes. I am the Oracle. When this happens you can say I am right.
