Prepare yourselves, North America -- Xbox pre-orders will be ruthless

Xbox Series console pre-orders in North America will go fast and cause much frustration, if the experience had in Australia and New Zealand this morning is any indicator, writes Stevivor.

its gonna be worse than peeps think. went in my local gamestop today. theyre a busy store an not one of those that will be closed in the new year. they got 12 ps5s for in store preorders the other day. 8 disc an 4 digital. today the manager got her xbox allocation and they only got 6 xboxes. 4 series x an 2 series s.

Another reason why these consoles should have been $600 or more. Too many people will buy them at these prices. People to use to spending on $200 shoes and $1200 phones.

I agree, people are mad because of what happened with the Ps5 pre-orders, but honestly, I don't think me and many others would have been able to pre-order if the stores respected their deadlines, and scalpers didn't get as many

Its the same story every console launch though. The launch day consoles are always hard to find. Remember when Xbox 360 launched? You couldn't find those thingd anywhere for like a month after launch. And even then it was just scarce amounts herr and there. It really wasn't until around February that they started being readily available for anyone that wanted one.

I remember PS4'S being tough to find too.

What makes it ruthless is that mainly scalpers gobble them up. I'm not saying there isn't an interest by fans, but the mass sellouts aren't due to people who legitimately want one to actually use and not make a quick buck.

Walmart made a statement saying that they will not have in store pre-orders and people will have to get them at the store first come first serve. Google it. :(

I remember buying tickets for the Harry Potter play in London a few years back that the site had a brilliant virtual queue.

Instead of the site just crashing and being a mess, you waited patiently.

I got exactly what I wanted even with thousands of people hitting the site at the same time.

I managed to get my PS5 preorder through Amazon but it was a MESS and most people I know failed.

Is N4G the only site you go on? Any website and masses of Xbots screaming about how Xbox will be more organized. Even MS themselves Tweeted that theirs would be organized and that this stuff wouldn't happened. Anyone who has played games long than one generation new both pre-order launches were going to be a complete mess. Anyone who believed these would be organized and neat with plenty of stock to go around was kidding themselves. Sorry if you don't believe facts.

jrburdine - same here. I had multiple websites open (WalMart, Microsoft, Amazon, Best Buy). Walmart showed "Coming Soon" for nearly 10 minutes, and it pops up (refreshing every two seconds) saying it's sold out.

Bots bought out the first wave in seconds. Amazon was releasing amounts on hour increments, I believe. Selling out instantly every time. Pre-orders were on Ebay for $1,000 within one minute of going up.

Sony made a bad thing letting a surprise and unorganized pre-order of PS5 going live, but many legit buyers had a chance to buy one because scalpers was gotten with their pants down. Buyers were literally faster than them.
With Xbox only bots bought all the pre-orders. Unfortunately was expected when they knew date, hour and even retailers.

This is actually worse than the PS5 launch. We literally had NO CHANCE of getting one. The moment they gave nearly a week's notice for day and time, forget it. At least I was able to get a PS5, as frustrating as that was.

Yes the notice that was given gave ample time to scalpers and bots & to buy up ASAP. ps5 pre order was better in the fact that higher percentage of playstation users must have got one

You can get both Series X/S right now at Target 🎯 far easier than GameStop, Bestbuy And even Amazon!!! Both consoles soldout just as fast as PS5 for all those retailers except for Target! It really didn’t matter if preorders was released early or not the scalpers still got the upper hand smh 🤦‍♂️

The Xbox 360 preorders was never this hard for me like the PS5 and Xbox Series consoles! Hell I was extremely lucky to get PS4 preordered on Amazon after refreshing the page just as Sony announced the price! I was fast 💨

The Xbox 360 back in 2005 was an easy walk-in to GameStop with a $50 dollar on preorder with no lines! I only had to wait 2 weeks after launch because my preorder was delayed. I always say that it’s better to have a preorder secure with a delay than to not have it preordered at all.

question, i was able to preorder one through gamestop online....i have my confirmation email with order number and the extended warranty and i paid for the day one shipping. within the email there is a link to view order details and when i click that it takes me to a page that says i am in line....now my question is did i actually get a console or did i hold a place for when one comes available?

Last week, it took a few hours to get my PS5 after the surprise preordering fiasco.
