We've already seen what they've done with the base 1.8 teraflop PS4 model! Imagine 5x that power on the PS5. Will probably be photo realistic and buttery smooth, Damn my mouth is watering just thinking of it lol.

AcidDvl1377d ago

We also need to keep in mind that some of that extra power will be mitigated because we're going from 1080p to 4K.

It will be a massive difference nevertheless.

bouzebbal1377d ago

Damn... Kratos on glorious PS5

stuna11377d ago

I didn't disagree with you but God of War was actually somewhere around 1440p and then upscaled to dynamic 4K on the Pro, but even comparing the base model to the Pro there were no major differences that really stood out.

Kaze881377d ago

AcidDvl true, but we still need to take into account that they will most likely use DLSS to upscale (it's waaaaay better than checkerboarding). Even people at Digital foundry they had to calculate the pixels in photoshop on UE5 demo to confirm that it was 1440p and not native 4K image. It looked that crisp that they could not tell otherwise.

AcidDvl1377d ago (Edited 1377d ago )

@Kaze88 I don't think so mate, DLSS is Nvidia's technology and PS5 has an AMD GPU.

I also think next gen consoles will want to feature native 4K.

SullysCigar1377d ago

It's quite a bit more than 5 times, since current and next gen figures aren't directly comparable in terms of value.

Then imagine how much they learned making the last game, factor in that awesome SSD and...omg yup, salivating too now lol

RpgSama1377d ago

Yes, because the infrastructure is different it's not a direct comparison in Tflop count between the old tech and Zen 2, that's for both PS5 and XSX, it's actually a bigger difference than what the numbers would tell you. So, 10 Tflops it's more like 14 of old tech, and 12 it's like 17 or something like that.

Donnie811377d ago

RpgSama
You are very correct my friend. We don’t know benchmarks yet and it also depends on just how custom the rdna2 is but amd is claiming a 40 to 60 % jump in efficiency. Even if it doesn’t get the top number it will be a great system with the bottom . That’s why I’ve said all sling both next gen systems are just monsters very capable of delivering a high end experience

gerrylee1377d ago

Actually you can't compare directly the GCN architecture of ps4 gpu to the RDNA2 of ps5 's. If you do, the differnce is much more than 5x. Every teraflop of RDNA2 is much more potent than a GCN one.

stuna11377d ago

Agree! I'm just happy that we're about to see major upgrades across the board, considering that we haven't seen technology evolve to this degree on consoles since the transition of 2D to 3D. It is a really exciting period that I think gaming is transitioning too.

FreeFallFrenzy1377d ago

I wish I could find the video I was watching of a guy breaking down all of the theoretical improvements from GCN to RDNA2. He came to something like a 16-18x overall improvement when compared to the base PS4. And that wasn't even taking into account whatever the SSD is going to do for the system too.

xer01377d ago (Edited 1377d ago )

Yes - this got my attention :)

"... the jump between PlayStation consoles this time around won't be as dramatic as the transition between PS2 and PS3 was."

What he means by that is that the learning curve won't be as steep as past generations. So it looks like his team are going to be way more productive this time around - as transitioning from PS4 to PS5 will be less of a ball ache.

More crazy level designs... YES!
More detailed worlds... YES!
Hyper fast game play and mechanics... YES!

Sunny123451377d ago

This is something that is going to be difficult to wait for.

We're finally going to get Kratos armpits hair the way its meant to be.

stuna11377d ago

Lol, Boy get me my axe so I can shave my armpits.

Pyrofire951377d ago

I'm expecting sentient AI at this rate.

I also think that the transition will be much easier. The biggest change is the SSD. Can wait to see what will the able to create!!!!

ClayRules20121377d ago

Yeah, I think it’ll be much easier as well. What they created with God of War on PS4 was nothing short of stunning, and imagining their work on PS5...my eyes will bleed haha. I can’t wait.

Magog1377d ago

I'm surprised they didn't crank out a sequel for this gen honestly. Naughty Dog made three games this gen and Santa Monica only made one.

Christopher1377d ago

They ported two other games and are half the size of ND, which grew to over 400.

Good-Smurf1377d ago

Their studio got relocated and had one of their team's other IP cancelled so that's why it took them so long.

auen11377d ago

Very disappointing.
They made 2 for the ps2, 2 for the vita, and 2 for the ps3 (plus the gow collection)

stuna11377d ago

I would rather have a game that has been nutured and fully developed, than a rushed out mess.

DeBroglio1377d ago

So dramatically disappointing :( (Extreme sarcasm)

JEECE1377d ago

Are you counting Last of Us Remastered as a Naughty Dog game for this gen?

Regardless, I think we have to start getting used to the idea of studios only getting 1-2 games out per generation.

STARS1377d ago

Naughty Dog made Uncharted 4, Uncharted The Lost Legacy and The Last of Us Part II. OT, can't wait to see what SSM can do with God of War on PS5. :)

JEECE1377d ago

@STARS
I'd hardly characterize Lost Legacy as a full separate Uncharted game. Just because something can be played as a standalone doesn't make it a full release.

steven_seagull1377d ago

Yeah they should just have rushed it and “cranked’ out a sequel. Look at Naughty Dog, amiright? Tbh I really dig the philosophy of “cranking’ out a game, because masterpieces are, quite simply, simple. You listening, Cory? Why didnt ya just crank one more out?

Silly gameAr1377d ago (Edited 1377d ago )

I think he's talking about The Lost legacy.

E: Sorry, my comment was meant for JEECE.

roadkillers1377d ago

I think Santa Monica spends a lot of Resources on helping smaller devs. Either way, all five or six Rockstar studios made 1 game this gen

Gonna be insane how they can send data so instantly that they can do all sort of insane shit on screen from now on.

Father__Merrin1377d ago

Combined with the controller ps5 is sure to have best versions of games one of the reasons will be controls no other platform had haptic feedback adaptive triggers with on board audio

ClayRules20121377d ago

Yeah, I’m so looking forward to feeling/experiencing that haptic feedback with adaptive triggers and the onboard audio. it’ll make gaming feel truly different. I may never get off my couch. Gosh, that’d be so sad lol.

RangerWalk2671377d ago

The touchpad on the PS4 controller wasn't used very often. At least nothing more than an extra button. First party games used it for a little longer. But they die out.

Epic Games Faces $1.2 Million Fine Over "Unfair Practices," Plans to Fight Back

Epic Games is facing a $1.2 million fine by the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets over "unfair practices" in the Fortnite shop.

Sciurus_vulgaris14h ago

It might be cheaper to simply pay the fine. Fighting said fine could cost millions due to court and lawyer fees. Fortnite generates well over a 100 million in each month, so Epic has plenty of cash.

franwex6h ago(Edited 6h ago)

But if they did pay it, then they are basically admitting that they did something they weren’t supposed to be doing. If they fight it, they may win and continue to have a sense of urgency for their micro transactions thus making more money long term.

5h ago
Furesis2h ago

I'd fight back too. These are kinda meaningless reasons to fine someone like really for THAT. It's like they just wanted to make money or something.

Too bad for the best fps there is atm...

Sgt_Slaughter12h ago

The market for games like this is too over saturated to make a dent in other established games' player counts. Trying to start all over with a whole new multiplayer meta and grinding to get better is not feasible when there's already a ton of similar games that have come out before it.
