Ima be honest with you. I could careless. Gaming headsets are pretty cheap these days.... AirPods are a very costly convenience. I don’t really feel like most gamers are gonna really use them to game.

But, more options are always welcome. I just don’t think its that serious.

Problem is Microsoft’s wireless technology is highly prone to interference much more so than Bluetooth. So having that option to use Bluetooth headsets would be nice.

Deepsishdj. Yah headset tech. You are right blue tooth can be susceptible to interference but the WiFi interference is far worse and guaranteed almostnif you game for a while. It’s pretty annoying. I have. 180$ headset and it still gets interference whereas my Bluetooth headsets and AirPods rarely do

Air pods are expensive, but there are less expensive alternatives out there. I hate earbuds myself, but bluetooth support will allow more than just those.

Been using the PlayStation good headset on all my consoles Xbox included and PC for years paid 150 and I'm pretty happy I wouldn't go back to off the shelf Bluetooth.

Regardless of ones opinions of AirPods or wireless headphones in general, they have been very popular and are selling quite a bit. A lot of consumers in the future won’t even have wired headphones (since most major phones no longer include them for the standard jack). It would be nice if we could just use the Bluetooth pairs already owned if needed.

I haven't really used wireless headphones. We can use them at work, but I just use earbuds instead. I worry that with repeated charging the batteries would wear out and have reduced capacity. I work 10 hour days, so earbuds would have to be recharged after every shift. On the weekends I game every day for extended periods so headphones would have to be charged after every session (or part way through). Most phone batteries are crap after a couple of years of repeated charging, so I just don't want to invest in some nice headphones and end up with the same reduced battery capacity.

I have Sony headphones that i bought for like 280 euros. I listen to music a lot so i invested in a good one. I was pretty bummed when i found out i couldnt use those same headphones on my Ps4.

Its crazy that i cant use my SONY Headphones on my SONY Playstation.

I'm not disagreeing that your headset should be supported it absolutely should... but if you spent 280 Euros on a headset you could spend another 20 to get a USB dongle to add support I'd imagine.

If it's low latency Bluetooth like AptX, sure. I'd be fine with that. But Bluetooth without low latency creates considerable lag. That's fine for music. But for games and movies it results in audio that's out of sync with what's happening on screen.

The thing is, low latency Bluetooth requires specific hardware and licensing from companies like Qualcomm. I'm not sure if Sony or Microsoft want to add that extra cost into systems that are likely already going to be sold at a loss.

They do in fact have lag, but the latency is pretty low. That's why Samsung added a lower latency gaming mode to the Galaxy Buds+.

The playstation platinum headphones have zero latency, at least its inperceptable if there is.

The PlayStation headsets are paired to a custom dongle that's designed to eliminate latency. That's not comparable to connecting a pair of Bluetooth headphones.

There's latency. Really bad audio latency with wireless earbuds of any brand. You don't typically notice as videos can adjust for it, but games obviously cannot without compromising input response time. You will not be using your airpods for gaming anytime soon

Sonys WH series headphones supports 360 Audio already, by having you take a picture of your ears using their dedicated Headphone app to render the HRTF. 360 Audio on them sounds incredible. Surely, they must make it possible to connect these headphones to the PS5.

They removed the Optic output in Xbox Series X which will literally make Rocksmith unplayable! (if you don't know, the game has awgul lag through HDMI).

I will have to keep the old Xbox X for that only game, which is ridiculous!

Well.. i'm the only one that cares about the health of my hearing? :P Besides that, i never liked so much those things in my ears, after a while they hurt me (Apple, Sony, Samsung, Huawei, whatever). I can't stand so much even the big ones that cover all your ears but i guess it's just me.
