That's how polarizing Death Stranding is. It's everyone's most loved and hated game. Yes, you need to play it to well after 10-20 hours into the game in order to "get" what Kojima was doing. The game is purposefully frustrating, and then you get the chance to help others ease their pain. Kojima was trying to teach people how to be kind to each other again, given all the vitriol we've unleashed on each other, which is why there are so many themes surrounding the US.

The thing is, putting death stranding up there w anthem, fallout, and crackdown 3 is messed up.

Everyone agree anthem, fallout, and crackdown are shitty games. Death stranding maybe disappointing, but it's not epic fail. And many ppl love the game. So this opinion piece is a troll opinion.

DS Doesn't suffer from glitching being the games second nature or even "the fun part" either don't know about Anthem though. Honestly just can't wait to be done with camping to be able to play at home

Given that it was obvious 3 of them would be BS and Death Stranding would be for people who are open to a different kind of experience, I think the journalists behind sensationalist articles just forgot to do their research before setting their expectations for certain games. Ok, I can see how some people might have expected more out of Fallout 76, but they clearly weren’t following it prior to release.

Pretty sure Death Stranding will be successful commercially too, so it good news all around really as it reviewed well enough too.

Games like Days Gone did get low score for a reason. Not everyone that gave the game low score are out there to “sabotage the success of PS exclusives”. Good games just can’t be good games, and bad game can’t just be bad games anymore nowadays without some kind of conspiracy theory.

But the PlayStation community is above that - Days Gone looked good from it's from it's reveal.

I love days gone, one of the best open world games i have ever played. Death stranding is just a bad game aimed to the true hardcore kojima fans, the casuals ain't buying it.

That is one of the reasons why Days Gone get low score. If the players can’t connect with the protagonist, how are said playerS supposed to care for the story?

Death Stranding was not for everyone, and most criticisms for the game are 100% valid. The Sony fans trying to defend it get just as ridiculous as the haters really, just on opposite ends of the spectrum.

But to group it in with games like Fallout 76 and Star Fox Zero? GTFO with that shit lol. Obvious clickbait and that thumb was a sure fire way to get clicks. Death Stranding may not be a great game, but it is a good game that is only being attacked because it is exclusive. PERIOD

I agree chief, I can totally see why the game isn't to everyone's tastes, but it isn't a bad game per se.

I am a Sony fan, but like to think I am balanced enough to avoid the 'fanboy' label, but that is very difficult here on N4G. Personally, I really enjoyed Death Stranding and found the gameplay loop weirdly compelling, which may sound strange to some who take a reductive approach by suggesting 'you just deliver stuff'.

I completed the story last night and having slept on it, I do have some reservations about the script in the game which I found a bit cringey at points but, overall, I enjoyed the story a great deal.

What I hate to see is people trashing a game without giving it a fair shout and not justifying their opinions constructively, because you can't help but feel that they have taken that stance for no reason other than they have an axe to grind with PlayStation when the just state 'its garbage!'.

Personally, never played Death Stranding as I knew it wasn't really my type of game. But I am not disappointed by it, it's just not for everyone. The game doesnt have much wrong with it besides not being for everyone. Idk about you guys but I base disappointment on how the game turned out and not whether it was a game for my tastes.

People just hatin' cause they are either mad it wasnt their kind of game or cause Kojima tried something different and it wasn't what people wanted.

If Final Fantasy 13 get's to be on that list then Death Stranding deserves to be there for the exact same reasons mentioned in the video.
Hardcore fans used to say that FF13 was very good after 20 hours of gameplay. Now, Is it me or I hear basically the same thing from Death Stranding fans?

I actually thought Death Stranding was great. I put in over 50 hours even though it started off slow I still liked it especially the story. Crackdown 3 was disappointing. The power of the cloud was power of lies from Microsoft and power of 💩💩
