Blizzard 'has completely changed,' say Diablo's original creators

David Brevik, Erich and Max Schaefer weigh in on the recent controversies surrounding Blizzard.

They went downhill after "Diablo 2", "WOW" and "Starcraft 2"...

A company changing after almost 30 years i operation? My God, it's not as if Blizzard is run by staff that need to innovate and remain fresh in order to stay in business.

Oh wait...

CorndogBurglar1621d ago

Except that companies can change and stay relevant without converting to anti-consumerism.

yomfweeee1620d ago

Except Blizzard still continues to put out some of the best and top-selling games... so really with "anti-consumerism"?

Chriswynnetbh1620d ago

@yomfweeee Blizzard hasn't put out anything great in a long time now. Even if you consider how successful D3 became, it still launched very anti-consumer with the RMAH. Not to mention that if there wasn't a crazy amount of fan outrage for Diablo Immortal, they would have easily pushed that out which is the epitome of anti-consumer. Take a long time franchise that people love and have tons of nostalgia for and stuff it full of mtx. Seems real pro consumer to me...

@solideagle

You're in an article about Blizzard. There's your example right there. Diablo 3 was garbage when it initially released. Diablo Immortal had fans raging.

yomfweeee1620d ago

D3 was crap and they fixed it. They've had multiple successful WoW expansions, whether you like it or not. And are you forgetting about Overwatch?

Good grief.

Taking money from commie fascists is innovative?

Positivelypositive 1621d ago

Basically think of bioware after EA bought them. They have a major focus on Overwatch, Hearthstone and Heroes of the storm. All of which are waiting room style online rinse and repeat games. They are the most popular style thing to cash grab atm.

The only PlayStation dev I care about tbh.

Cacabunga18h ago

Hopefully doesn’t take them a complete gen to release it

TheColbertinator13h ago

Good. Something not boring, not one of those "make your own game" crap and also on Steam would be nice.

I too like to look for things in the wrong places.

"the capital group of PCF Group S.A."

If you're getting funding from a group that needs two different ways of Acronyming itself, things will not go the way you want them to.

banger881d 16h ago

If it was more online-only crap then good riddance.

jjb19811d 2h ago

Outriders was crap. They slapped that game together and threw in a loot system to get players' attention. This game was absolutely jank and the always online nonsense made it stutter like crazy. People Can't Optimize.

thorstein1d 1h ago

I liked Outriders but I could see where the artistic vision was compromised. The way the industry is now, it wouldn't surprise me that upper management would scrap something that didn't pull in money via gaas, mts, or other means.
