Yuke's leaving after WWE 2K20 is great news for WWE and AEW fans - Here's why

Why WWE and AEW fans should be excited by the news that Yuke's is breaking away from 2K Sports following WWE 2K20.

That's more 2K's fault rather than Yuke's. They've wanted to take the series in a different direction for years.

What are you talking about? The "realistic" direction was started by Yukes as far back as Smackdown vs Raw 2006. 2K merely continued using that direction and engine.

AEW is trying to get AKI for their future game. Google it. Yuke's is trying to do something different.

AKI changed their name to Syn Sophia. I still pull out my PS2 every now and then just to play their Def Jam: Fight for NY game

Well technically they have only spoken about using the old AKI engine and they have gotten their attention. They could likely hire some Yukes talent to assist. Syn Sophia is kinda smaller than it used to be. Still not out of question if they wanted to develop it. It could be possible.

Other options are that they could license the engine and get Yukes or the people that make Fire Pro wrestling on board to develop.

Yukes is definitely making its own game for 2020 or 2021 at the moment. Other projects would require a hefty deal I imagine. Yukes can make a deal with any other promotion now that they are free of WWE. Impact, MLW, NJPW,ROH, AAA, and still possibly AEW.

That engine is outdated, so they would have to build it up from scratch to take full advantage of the newer systems.

Agreed. Wcw/nwo was my fav wrestling game of all time. My son and I can barely play 2k19 together as it’s far too complicated for him (he’s pretty young at 5 but he can crush Horizon ZD, Days Gone, Spider-Man, and indie games

I've been playing their wrestling games since the PS1 days and man, they've made some great(yet very buggy) wrestling games. It's pretty obvious these guys are exhausted, since you know, they've been pretty much copying and pasting the same game for a few years now. I wish them the best!

Nah Yukes was doing great until Visual Concepts came in to help develop the games 2k said that Visual Concepts has passion for wrestling but...... they really don't they have zombie like wrestlers wrestling outside a barn. Yukes was great Visual Concepts suck I'm sure this year it will be the same bs copy and paste crap like always they're lazy Rick Rude has had the same attire for 5 years straight he was a colorful wrestler.

If they can go back to making the arcade version from the early 90s WWF Wrestlefest I would buy it. I haven’t brought a wrestling game since Super Nintendo and those versions were silly at best. You pull a combo on Yokozuna and all types of Chicken and Hams start flying out his body, really?

Improvements??? Every year it's the same game they don't improve anything people have been asking for GM mode and they don't give people what they ask for but yet ask for ideas and say they read the input when they don't.
