People will be disappointed in this game. If there is an infallible recipe for deception is the attempt to recreate the past. Gamers who live on this ingrate mission are doomed to a life of failures.

The moments that are in the past, there they are and will not come to the present.

It can be done right. Look no further than A Hat in Time. What makes it so successful is that it's a modern take on old games. Sure, there are references and mechanics all over the place that relate to retro games but they aren't repeating the past.

I have a feeling this new YL game will be fantastic.

I'm not saying that the game will be bad, or that bringing models and mechanics from the past make it worse or better. No. All this can undoubtedly create a great game.

But, the game can never be enjoyed and analyzed for what it is. Most of the players and the press will look for the sensation they had 25 years ago with DKC. And obviously they will fail. They are older and the world is different. In the end, the game will pay the bill for an unattainable expectation of a promise it never made.
