It's insane just how much I'm looking forward to this. Adore Vamp: Bloodlines, so a second immediately jumps to one of my most anticipated games around.

Better short and sweet than too long

If it's anything like the first, hopefully every clan will have some unique stuff to each playthrough

Agreed. And I know a lot of people aren't fans of DLC, at least the ones that are overpriced and/or seem to be ripped from the main game to then be sold as new, however, we do have more content to look forward to with VTMB 2 if for some reason 25-30 hrs isn't enough -
'Strange beings have ventured into Seattle, and threaten the Masquerade. Expand your Vampire: The Masquerade® - Bloodlines™ 2 story into the Season of the Wolf.
The Season of the Wolf includes:
• Two Story Packs which will take you deeper into the underbelly of Seattle and introduce some of the more fantastical denizens from the World of Darkness.
• One major Expansion in which the vampires' greatest enemy enters Seattle.'

I'm guessing the 2 story packs will be on the shorter side, maybe 2 hours a piece, if it expands the main story/chars, 4 hours of quality content sounds good to me. The larger expansion called 'Season of the Wolf' I'm guessing will offer a lot more content hence it being called an expansion (well, we can hope). If that 25-30 hour window is accurate, knowing the way that I play games, that could easily become 40-45 hours for one playthrough. Add in multiple endings, branching dialogue and quests and VTMB 2 sounds like it will offer a lot of replay value.

I really hope they stay true to the original vision and don't water the game down in favor of making it easier and more "modern".

I'm not expecting much of this game. The lead writer said they're trying to "broaden" it, from the "masculine power fantasy" of the original. Seems to be completely infected with feminist nonsense. Under the direction of Paradox, I think we can expect more of things like this: https://img.fireden.net/tg/...

Time will tell. If it strays too far from the original then the players will hate it and the sales will tank.

I don’t understand what they mean by”male power fantasy”. Its a vampire power fantasy.

It’s probably just PR talk to get “those” sites off their backs.

mixelon1885d ago

If it’s going to be a better game of VTM itself then hell yes it needs to cater to more character types and scenarios. That’s not feminist nonsense, it’s just a really broad RP game/setting with a long standing tradition of catering to a very diverse player base.

Bloodlines is great but we can do a lot more now.

Josh Sawyer Reflects on Design Evolution: From Icewind Dale to Pentiment

Josh Sawyer is a name that has been familiar to RPG fans for decades. He's worked on Icewind Dale, Neverwinter Nights 2, Alpha Protocol, Fallout: New Vegas, Pillars of Eternity, and most recently Pentiment. How did he get into game development, how has his design philosophy changed over the years, and why did he decide to do Pentiment a little differently?

thorstein20h ago(Edited 19h ago)

Those are some great games. Icewind Dale I & II are underrated.

If Larian made Icewind Dale III, I'd lose my mind.

What a fantastic, thorough interview.
