It's the end of an era. He was the head of PlayStation and when he became head of Sony it was his understanding of how great gaming is that meant he fully backed the PlayStation division and that's a big reason why PS4 has done so well.

Kaz Hirai will be missed - especially by us gamers who have been with Playstation since it started 24 years ago, and of course by Sony as he guided the company back to a stable footing and then to a strong position where it is now. On a lighter note, who can forget the Kaz Hirai GIFS out there? Sony had a boss that enjoyed gaming and understood gamers and had a real sense of humour. I hope Kaz still has a hand in Playstation decisions behind the scenes and I also hope he doesn't totally disappear from the public and will be around for the release of PS5.
