Anthem Won't Put Any Obstacles Between You and Playing with Your Friends, Says BioWare

BioWare's Game Director Jonathan Warner said players will be able to play with their friends in Anthem even if they are underleveled, through clever difficulty scaling. You may even elect to play a story mission you haven't done yet, provided you don't care about the spoilers.

Good, it's lame when that happens.

UltraNova1983d ago (Edited 1983d ago )

What's lame is that we are still waiting for info on the SP side of things...

Tbh a simple "No Offline/SP" would suffice.

Haaliax1983d ago

In the closed alpha the game states just begining that requires online connection to play, tho the firsts missions are played alone

GottaBjimmyb1982d ago (Edited 1982d ago )

There will probably be no offline SP, that seems unfortunately obvious, though I still cannot believe we really have people here complaining about that, the absolutely massive minority of people with no internet that own and play consoles is so small. (And the I can't afford $30/month for internet, but can buy a $250-450 console and games argument is the worst, so even fewer cannot get internet) Though I do also agree it is a pretty odd/stupid choice to link SP with online activity.

This headline seems more like a jab at destiny for closing off certain modes and events to matchmaking, making it virtually impossible to play together. The only weird part of this statement is it also implies a lvl 76 and lvl 30 can play the same mission together, which kinda seems against the grain. Guess we will see.

UnHoly_One1982d ago

I think they've already said you can play the whole game solo if you want.

I'm sure you'll still need to be online, though, as I imagine your characters are stored online much like Destiny or other MMO-type games.

UltraNova1983d ago (Edited 1983d ago )

Haaliax,

Well then thats as good of an answer as we'll get. No offline/SP it is.

darthv721982d ago

Isnt this game meant to be a co-op game though? So offline would not really be ideal, unless you want to go it alone.

Cmv381983d ago

Hmmmm. Sounding promising

slate911983d ago

Except the friends on other systems =x

porkChop1983d ago

Yeah cross-play would be nice for these coop shooters.

slate911983d ago

Makes 0 sense not to have it at least confirmed.

InTheZoneAC1983d ago

bad consumer decisions are only a barrier when they don't buy the right system

porkChop1983d ago

There is no "right" system. Which system is better in your eyes is just personal opinion.

DaveZero1983d ago

Yeah cross play can only help drive sales really.

The game is looking nice.

One thing I really hope is that they add more suits. It's one thing that drives me nuts with the games today is that in today's gaming they should be adding more playable characters, suits that are not just skins, which come with new move sets as well as new looks.

Just Cause 4 has a jet pack. I'm good.

Don't need your greedy ass game thanks.

DaveZero1983d ago

It does look good just cause 4, loomed funny as hell from the video I watched, however they are complete different games, one is a sp/sandbox/rpg/shooter the other is coop/sandbox/rpg/shooter. The amount of players is what makes the games different from eachother.

Haaliax1983d ago

I never liked the Just Cause serie. I like more serious games. The story telling in this one is pretty nice (to my personal preference). Im not saying JC is bad, just that I dont like it

senorfartcushion1982d ago

Let's just say that this is the first to actually have a story, so...

Lol

The company look like arse, but it is taking itself seriously enough for me to be invested.

Nintendo confirms its commitment to physical games

In an era dominated by digital downloads and streaming services, the importance of physical media in gaming remains a topic of discussion.

Of course, Nintendo has always preferred physical sales, especially since they skew to a younger audience, and kids want games for their birthdays and holidays. They go to the store and pick the game they want.

Since the Wii they have always been the last major publisher to support modern tech or concepts, and they will be the last to support physical if it ever goes away. Which I hope it doesn't.

darthv7241m ago

Nintendo just likes sales in general. If they can sell digital more, they would because the 2nd hand market they do not get a cut of. For me, i tend to buy more physical switch games than I do other platforms. I do have my fair share of digital deals from the eshop though. Especially if its something that i have a sealed physical copy of and dont want to reduce its value.

Cacabunga15m ago

Then I know for sure who I will be supporting

neutralgamer19921h ago

OK, but you need better format where these games could actually fit instead of half of the game being in physical form and all I have being on a digital code or have to download

Hofstaderman49m ago

The one caveat with cartridges. If the leaks are true the internal storage stands at 256gb plus SD card support too.

Inverno17m ago

There are cards that can fit all of a game but those cost more, and publishers are cheap. It's weird cause with how much the switch has sold and how long it's been on the market the costs to manufacture these cards should've been much lower by now. It's a publisher issue cause there has only been very few exceptions on PS and Xbox, rest of the industry would rather force a download despite Blu-ray being cheap.

ActualWhiteMan38m ago

Yeah it artificially retains the high prices for their software. Hence Pirates will always have their day with them.
