I'm usually in it for the story, so being held back from that is maddening.
Some folks just don't have the patience.
I don't mind difficulty, I hate extremely confusing progression. I gave up on vice city, bloodborne, and resident evil 7 for this reason. Difficulty is fine, just beat all those valkyries in God of war and that was a bitch and a half but it was fun. But when you have to spend hours just figuring out what the hell to do to move forward it eliminates the fun factor, at least for me it does.
