I remember a time several years ago when 2D indie platformers were the most interesting games coming out at the time. Titles like Limbo, Braid, and Fez all brought new mechanics to a tried and true formula. They were true projects of innovation. Another great product of this period was VVVVVV.

To celebrate the 10 year anniversary of retro indie platformer VVVVV, developer Terry Cavanagh has released the game’s original source code to the public.

Minimal design, maximal fun. VVVVVV was originally released as a Flash game in 2010, and since then it’s been ported to everything under the sun. I remember playing and loving the 3DS release years back. And I’m happy to report that the game is as good as ever on the Switch. In fact, this might be the best version yet.
