Have it for PC. It's an interesting space sim with some really advanced ship controls. However, it has a LOT of weaknesses, so advance warnings:

- It REALLY needs a flightstick. I tried it on my PC with my PS3 controller and it was awful. The ship controls are very sensitive and you need absolute precision for space station docking (if you screw up too much, they'll open fire and you WILL die)...which is the first thing you'll do in this game. And you don't get the ability to auto-land until you can afford the component.

- The mission system amounts to little more than "bring thing/person X to place Y", and occasionally getting ambushed. There are some combat/assault missions but they aren't that exciting, and sometimes hunting down the bounty is maddeningly frustrating.

- It is not truly MMO. When you enter a busy system you just get plopped into a tiny random instance with a small group of other players. It's not much more of an MMO than Dark Souls or something.

- It has a faction system that they glued on top of the game a while back but it doesn't really do squat.

- This company is notorious for releasing enhancements and then effectively making you re-purchase the game to enable them. This is NOT a product that could be called a complete game...it still feels very early access...but they charge for these major annual enhancements as if it is. They should be doing what Hello Games is doing with No Man's Sky and just selling a base game, then putting out the updates at no further cost. Right now, they'll add a core gameplay feature that should've been there already and demand another $30-40.

-You can warp between systems, usually to a gate right by a star, but travel within the system requires flying manually in "supercruise" mode. This normally can get you to any planet or station within the system within a couple of minutes, but some systems it can literally take over an hour. Imagine an hour just sitting there staring at your screen, and you can't leave because you could always get ambushed. It's awful. It's bad game design. It's stupid.

-You can only land on moons, and they are all dead rocks that look like they came from Mass Effect 1. Anything with an atmosphere is just eye candy. You can orbit them, but that's it.

-Literally 99% of the galaxy is dead. Virtually all of the missions and space stations exist in one relatively tiny bubble. Granted that bubble has a lot of stars in it and takes a long time to cross, but the point is that the massive hugeness outside of it just doesn't have any real purpose. You could spend many, many hours warping from star to star across the galaxy, but you won't find anything interesting. Eventually you'll probably just screw up and run out of fuel 50 *real* hours away with no way to return without killing yourself and losing everything you've achieved. So fun!

Thanks Frosty.
Detailed description from your perspective. Appreciate the warnings.

Here's the TL;DR version: It's basically a space trucking simulator with a little bit of shooting and mining.

Fuel Rats to the rescue. Hopefully, they'll have a presence on PS4.

FITgamer2494d ago

I didn't even know this was coming to PS4.

TheOptimist2494d ago

I doubt that a third party indie developer would ever skip PS4 entirely.

I plan on picking it up in a couple of weeks, depending on how well launch goes. Still not into how there are multiple versions on PS4.

This is a great space exploration game.

Markdn192d ago

Shame it's no longer supported though, :(

anast192d ago

A revive might be needed.

MrNinosan192d ago (Edited 192d ago )

What do you mean by quietly?
They announced it last week along the other games that was released yesterday on PS+ Extra/Premium.

GamerRN191d ago

They are trying to make it look like a casual drop, while trying to make it look like it outshines Starfield.

ModsDoBetter191d ago

Great game, sadly abandoned by the developers due to the different version it ran compared to PC.

Plenty of hours to be had, we just miss out on a bunch of cool features and story development compared to PC players.

raWfodog191d ago

I was bummed when they announced they wouldn’t be bringing Odyssey to consoles. That was when I really began losing active interest in the game. Up until then, I already had about 800 hours invested in the game.

PunksOnN4G191d ago

Nah I'm good this the dev team that had console plans then decided not to and only work on the PC version why would I support a trash company

z2g191d ago (Edited 191d ago )

its ok. its def a pc game that made its way to console randomly. been out for a few years so its not exactly "new".
