‘Yooka-Laylee’ — Don’t hate it ‘til you play it

A chameleon and a bat — what’s up with that? That’s a question being asked by many gamers, with the answers being far more complicated than anybody imagined.

I did my part by platinuming this game. Awesome game, 2nd behind Persona 5 for GOTY.

100% it. Loved it. But the articles making this game to be the next best thing since sliced bread are wrong. Most reviews got it right. It was average at everything it did. And that is no way a bad thing either.

I agree, it was pretty average but it's charm and core gameplay are just fun.

Agreed. There is this strange idea that gamers are only allowed to actually enjoy 'good' games. But that is complete rubbish, as this article points out. Our enjoyment itself is subjective, rather than objective, so what is the value in objective reviews?

Do I think Yoola-Laylee is the greatest game ever made? Absolutely not. Is it one of the most enjoyable games I've played in recent years? Absolutely!!

A game doesn't have to ascribe to predetermined expectations of innovation in order to be enjoyable. There are some incredibly highly rated games out there (and justifiably so) that I would tire of within the first five minutes. At the same time, there have been some atrocious games that I have poured hours and hours of my life into, despite being less than impressive critically.

What does any of it matter, so long as fun is being had?

You're making sense right now. Stop it. :3

I'll get it when it's £15, I've only paid more than £30 once on Steam for a AAA game, certainly not going to do it for an indie game.

I've played it & it was trash.

You're entitled to your opinion... I didn't press disagree, btw.

Banjo-Kazooie were originally going to be in Yooka-Laylee

Playtonic is a developer made up of a bunch of former RARE devs, and the first title they worked on was the 3D platformer, Yooka-Laylee. Those who followed RARE over the years definitely saw the DNA of Banjo-Kazooie in Yooka-Laylee, but it turns out the original plan was even deeper than that.

Wouldn’t they be exclusive to the Xbox One version just like they were exclusive to the Xbox 360 versions of Sega All Stars Racing

Although since Banjo-Kazooie skins were available in every version of Minecraft, it could’ve been possible for the same to apply for Yookah-Laylee
