Rumor: Next Assassin’s Creed planned for Switch, releasing alongside other versions

“@OBE1plays @YouTube I've heard as much on AC release parity, Ubi want day one release. Good luck on your 12 days. Fingers crossed for you.”

freshslicepizza2679d ago

ubisoft has been saying all positive things so of course they will bring it to the switch.

InTheZoneAC2679d ago

releasing alongside other versions could mean that the Switch gets a "Go" version and the ps4/xbone get the other...

wonderfulmonkeyman2679d ago

Nah. Separate versions would be too much work for Ubi, and besides, reports say the architecture makes direct ports easy.

Erik73572679d ago (Edited 2679d ago )

Can't be extensively different if it's "releasing alongside" other version meaning the release is simutanulouis,

Will be interesting seeing the graphic comparison because you will get to see the advantages of Ps4 or Switch. Would you rather have a slightly better looking game or would you want the same game you can take on the go as well? That question will be very important to find the answer to because we just dont know the hardware of the switch and how 3rd party games will perform on it compared to a ps4/xbox one. But if they are very similar in graphics I think the Switch will do very very well and will make the portability feature of the Switch a much bigger game changer than having some VR part per say on the ps4 version.

But that's a long shot, if it's graphics can match or be around the original ps4 and xbox one it will do well....

NickAwesome2679d ago

Can the switch even run this?

Kaneki-Ken2679d ago (Edited 2679d ago )

If isn't at strong as Xbone/PS4 and recent Assassin Creed been having glitch and bug issue on both current system so just imagine how worse is going to be on the switch.

Vegamyster2679d ago

Wasn't it just Unity that had lots of issues?

2679d ago
wonderfulmonkeyman2679d ago

It should be able to. Most reports say the Switch is way easier to work with than the Wii U was.

LOL_WUT2678d ago

But will it be able to run this without any compromises? ;)

R00bot2678d ago (Edited 2678d ago )

Of course there will be compromises LOL_WUT are you being serious right now? It's a portable console, when has a portable ever ran a game as well as the consoles of that generation?

OtakuDJK1NG-Rory2679d ago

if it can runs the latest version of gaming engines, api and tools then yes.
Will it look the same no but can it run it yes, because it's up to date with what developers uses.

Eonjay2679d ago

Of course. Why wouldn't it. I liken it to PC. On PC, you don't have to have a blazing graphics card to play games. My R9280 isn't the best by any estimation, but it will run the game. The resolution my not be as high but most gaming engines nowadays are built to be scalable. Look at something the many many PS4/VITA cross over games. Resogun, World of FInal Fantasy, Ys, Dragon Quest Builders, Lego games... It will run on Switch just fine.

Erik73572679d ago (Edited 2679d ago )

We don't even fully know for certain Switch hardware, the dev kit that we got info on was a old one and apparently there is a newer more powerful one that has been used recently.

ABizzel12679d ago

Assassin's Creed games aren't the most demanding usually. Unity was because of crowd density and poor optimizations. Otherwise the only real upgrade from the last gen games are the standard better texture work, lighting,

If you go back to Black Flag, it was up on PC, PS4, XBO, Wii U, PS3, and 360 and had no real issues. AC Syndicate which came after Unity, didn't have anywhere near the same issues Unity had either.

So Switch should be just fine considering it's theoretically more powerful than the Wii U / PS3 / 360 (it should be, but we need to know the final specs first).

Ubi were pretty good at supporting the WiiU so I'm not really surprised. If you include the fitness game they had 6 titles for the WiiU launch, while Nintendo themselves only had 2.

Kokyu2679d ago

2 games is good support? They flatout side they wouldnt be making anymore games for Wii U then released the Wii U exclusive games like ZombiU on other platforms because the sale numbers were so bad.

Perjoss2679d ago

2 games? where did you get that number from

Erik73572679d ago (Edited 2679d ago )

Yea..Nintendo was not really pushing out a lot of new and excited games for Wii U compared to their other console cycles. This one seems to have much more effort from Nintendo in terms of games. Mario platformer like mario galaxy/mario sunshine at launch? Pretty good if you ask me compared to Wii U. In its first 6 months it'll have mario kart, zelda, mario platformer at launch, and super smash bros.

All of those exclusives are are going to have metacritic ratings much higher than the launch exclusives for ps4/xbox one.

*Proof
Xbox one/Ps4
http://www.metacritic.com/g... - Killzone ps4 launch

http://www.metacritic.com/g... Knack

http://www.metacritic.com/g... Ryse

http://www.metacritic.com/g... Dead rising 3

Nintendo

http://www.metacritic.com/g... Mario kart

http://www.metacritic.com/g... Super smash bros

And the Zelda game looks sure to have another 90+ metacritic score and I can bet you the mario platformer that is rumored to be something along the scope and gameplay of Mario Sunshine and Mario Galaxy will surely be in the 90 as well be we will have to see. All of this though in the first 6 months is pretty impressive to me.

rjason122679d ago

For all the slack they were given, Ubisoft was pretty good to the Wii U, though they made some bad decisions regarding it too, like the Rayman fiasco.

thatguyhayat2679d ago

They have always been supporting Nintendo. Wouldnt be surprised at all if they do

Can We Finally Admit Assassin's Creed 3 Deserves an Apology?

AC3 was released during a turbulent transition period for Ubisoft and the Assassin's Creed series. It ventured into uncharted territory, narratively and mechanically, which caused it to receive mixed reviews. At its core, though, it's a damn good stealth game.

Nope, I hated 3, connar was bland, literally the most flat character in the entire game. Not to mention to myriad of bugs, camera issues, and that annoying thing where he automatically ditches his weapon you payed for for the sake of a cool finishing move forcing you to trek back to your base after almost every encounter just to re-equip your own weapon. It just didn't work as fluidly as the others like 2 and 4

Samonuske201d ago

The series peaked at AC3 for me. It’s been my favourite in the series. Connor will always be one of my favourite video game protagonists.

Becuzisaid201d ago

No. Game was BORING. Connor was really dull. Environments, while impressive, because of the geographic location and time period were not really exciting to be in. I would love some kind of game set in there colonial American time period, but a game like AC that back then centered around parkour and vertical traversal really didn't fit those environments.

-Foxtrot201d ago

Nope

There was a lot of issues but mine is how they handled the war

They told us Connor was not going to get involved, that the war was more of a background setting for the real story and it wasn’t going to be one sided

They lied, even the cinematic E3 trailer showed Connor emerge from the Colonist side and slaughter the red coats to get to his target, inspiring the Colonists to fight back

I just thought it would have made more sense lore wise that the red coats were mostly compiled of Assassins fighting the Colonist templars who wanted to take the new world for themselves.

Since the Red coats lost the war, it would then explain how the Templars started to gain the upper hand and how on the future the assassins were mostly killed off and the Templar’s had pretty much taken over everything.

Instead it just felt like they didn’t want to p*** off the American audience

Even Haytham was cool, he should have been an Assassin through and through and should have been the main lead.

toxic-inferno201d ago

The game even seems to lack the humour of the other games. It almost seems as though the idea of even slightly making fun of American history wouldn't be acceptable.

-Foxtrot201d ago

Exactly

It just felt super safe

“Better not make the colonists look super bad incase people boycott our game”

jeromeface200d ago

someone missed the whole point

-Foxtrot200d ago

There was literally no point

What I've just said above would at least make sense lore wise and why the Assassins start to loose their war, die off and how the Templars are in control in the future of almost everything....what they did was just, pointless

CrimsonWing69201d ago

I’m one one of those weird people that liked Ass Creed 3, but to be fair I never got around to finishing it.

GhostScholar212d ago (Edited 212d ago )

I disagree that max is unlikable. Chloe is infinitely more unlikable in my opinion.

gold_drake212d ago

omg chloe was awful. i really hated her at the end haha

Cacabunga212d ago

Abby was absolute trash protagonist in every way..
Tidus was so meh to me..
On villain side, the one i didn’t like wa Micah, because they wanted him to be that way and it was brilliant👍🏽

Rancegamerx212d ago

I agree, I liked Max, Chloe was a horrible friend and a bad influence.

Cacabunga211d ago

Everyone agrees on chloe, I’m sure even ND do.

H9212d ago

Both are horrible, granted Chloe is infinitely worse, it feels like Chloe is just fanservice for people who too over the edge and wasn't written to be a character that makes sense

GooGobbler212d ago

What about that Forspoken Tw*t

MrChow666212d ago

exactly I was expecting it to be a the top of the list

ravens52212d ago

Ye I was expecting her too. Guess they actually played the game. Unlike you and whoever agrees.

gpimlott211d ago

I played through the whole game and think she is one of the worst character Ive ever played as

ravens52211d ago (Edited 211d ago )

gpimlott. How?

Stanjara201d ago

Why would I payed and played the game if the whole internet is making fun of a character?

-Im here to kill Chaos...are you Chaos?

Yeah, I didn't play that game either.

Christopher212d ago (Edited 212d ago )

She's actually not bad. It's the writing itself that is bad overall, but she's fine overall. She's no worse than Miles Morales IMHO. Both thrust into a spotlight and receiving both praise and blame and dealing with it.

Forspoken is a bland game because it's 75% bland, boring, repetitive going through the motions and diversions that add nothing of the value with purposefully gated memory moments that don't feel organic or like you're discovering things but waiting for others to reveal things.

ravens52211d ago

Exactly Chris. Even though I liked the game. I kno u played it. People who actually played it and went thru her dream saw she was a good likeable person who really just acted out due to being alone and unloved. I think your problem is it was open world, I think if it was more linear you may have liked it better.

savedsynner211d ago

Oh no she's bad. Very unlikable even before you add on the bad dialogue. The game could have been quite good with a good protagonist

ravens52211d ago

For all the people like synner. Shes actually half white lol. Inferior complexity is a hell of a thing. You'll be ok.

Nerdmaster212d ago

Most of these aren't even that bad. Especially comparing to others like Squall "Whatever" Leonhart, Forspoken's Frey, and the guy from Atomic Heart.

-Foxtrot212d ago

Squall is one of the best developed main FF characters so...

People talk about his "whatever" thing thats at the start of the game, not the character he eventually becomes in the end.

Nerdmaster211d ago

No amount of "character development", (especially the ones that for me feels sudden and undeserved like Squall's), will justify him being a d**k to my girl Quistis. Even if he found the cure for cancer, from that moment on, I would never like him.
The article is about being unlikeable, and he was indeed unlikeable for at least half of the game.

BrainSyphoned212d ago

Squall is the best protagonists in FF so you can go whatever yourself.

H9212d ago

My good sir, I need to steal that "you can go whatever yourself" because it's gold

BlaqMagiq1212d ago

Except Squall has actual character development.

gold_drake212d ago (Edited 212d ago )

the "watever" is only present in the english localisation.
so your argument doesnt rly ... stand imo.

Nerdmaster211d ago

Good for you that you could enjoy the japanese version. That's not the case for me and the majority of people here, though.
