The Killer App. I'm buying the headset for GTS and the possibility of No Man's Sky alone. I spend a few hundred on steering wheels, a headset is no issue.

VR and racing is a match made in heaven.

darthv723006d ago

Can you just imagine you are racing at super fast speeds and crash... tumbling and flipping. What kind of toll would 'experiencing' that in VR have on the nervous system? I'd prob fall out of my seat

Thisgengaming3006d ago

Are you saying Gran Turismo Sport could be more of a horror game than Until Dawn: Rush Of Blood? :D

WeAreLegion3006d ago

We may need a more arcadey title for that.

Overload3006d ago

Exactly. It gives me chills.

WelkinCole3006d ago

Motostorm would be perfect for that.

G20WLY3006d ago (Edited 3006d ago )

^OMG Welkin, I'd kill for a new Motorstorm at all - making it VR would be like all my Christmases at once! :^D

pwnsause_returns3006d ago

I said it before, gran trurismo and ace combat is what's gonna sell the thing and show the true capabilities of vr.

GMW3006d ago

That makes me wonder who the hell will play PT on this? :-0 That will be one of the scariest experiences

SolidStoner3006d ago

If you are getting PS VR for GTsport alone.. then get a proper steering wheel like Thrustmaster T300 integral ferrari alcantara... or at least get Logitech g29..

GT games is one of the best with sim wheels! and any gadgets works perfect there..

hay3006d ago

GT5 was pimpin with HMD, you'd get a bit dizzy with each fast corner when your brain made you counter the non existing load factor.

DARKKENT3006d ago

The shivers i got thinking about gt and psvr..

Sony need demo booths everywhere just running gt to advertise psvr... Can't think of a better game to promote and get people to jump in the psvr bandwagon

Aenea3006d ago

@ThisGenGaming

Hmmm, Carmageddon with VR support sounds nice too! :)

VR and racing...yeah! How about VR and boxing? Not cheesy (but fun) wii boxing either. I'm talking about walking the ramp and you get in the ring and you are able to look around and see the crowd.

Aenea3006d ago

Well, I still have a gun holder for a PS Move controller, holding that gun in right hand, left hand has that other non-Move controller thing with 1 analog stick and buttons which is for walking around, PSVR handles the looking around.

Even that sounds amazing to me!

And I love flight and space sim stuff, Ace Combat and that Eve Valkyrie game are must buys for VR too (for me at least)!

WelkinCole3006d ago

MM Dreams will also support it so that alone for me is worth a PS Vr purchase for me.

Overload3006d ago

I forgot about that one and yes, it's on the short list with NMS and GTS.

G20WLY3006d ago

Dreams is definitely up there!

And RIGS!!

kraenk123006d ago

Has NMS even been confirmed to support PSVR?!

hells_supernova3006d ago

the developer Shaun Murray was very on board with the idea in an interview with Kinda Funny he said that "it would be cool, but we are a small team"

I would say it is on the cards and may happen by the launch of PSVR

_-EDMIX-_3006d ago

Yes and no. All PS4 games will work in PSVR, merely not natively ie looking left and right as it will be just a display.

You can play it while wearing the device, it won't be in full active VR though.

I see the team updating it with the feature in the future, clearly if Sony pays though lol.

They might have to for PC for OR or the mod community might already have it working for No Man Sky shortly after its release on PC.

_-EDMIX-_3006d ago

I can't really say that for myself. I've played the GT series just with rear view vs cockpit so I don't know if I will play lots of it in VR.

No Man Sky could be even without natural VR features lolz, I know....that sounds crazy. I guess I'm not that much of a racing gamer I guess, I'm not realizing that MOST of the racing titles I've played have only been GT's in the last few years.

Not like when I was younger and played Need For Speed, Burnout, Mario Kart etc, GT seems to be the only racing game I put deep hours in now days.

I of course will try cockpit view with VR for GT Sport for a bit though, but for me personally I don't see me buying it solely for that reason, I'm buying both GT Sport and PSVS for different reasons.

Goldby3006d ago

i want a VR experience like none other,
i want to play a VR version of myself playing in VR watching myself play GTS in VR. with beer holders on the side of the HMD.

one can only dream

miyamoto3005d ago (Edited 3005d ago )

Killer App indeed.

Don't forget your side mirrors and shoulder checks.

Oh my goodness kids can have "real" driving simulator training in the comfort of the living room.

This VR thing could be huge.

I am really pumped!

If there is one game to sell PSVR to millions out there it's Gran Turismo.

WrestlingNewsFan3006d ago

It looks like it's going to be that must have game when you buy PS VR. Like when a new console comes out, and there's always that one game you got to buy with the console at launch.

Overload3006d ago

The biggest racing franchise, FIA partnered, VR racing simulator will be HUGE!

_-EDMIX-_3006d ago

Agreed. Sorta as big as it gets with racing to be honest.

What could even be consider huger? lol GT7 VR? I mean....sure as it seems by default GT7 will likely have those same VR features.

G20WLY3006d ago

This is a system seller, plain and simple.

iceman063006d ago

Is that you Donald??? 😜 Seriously, this could be the killer app.

kenwonobi3006d ago

It's their AAA title. So the developer needs to take this title very seriously. A full game for virtual reality is necessary to show it can provide those experience. I believe it'll be phenomenal.

MoveTheGlow3006d ago (Edited 3006d ago )

VR compatibility is driving game sales... This is probably a big first, and a sign that VR might be just what the industry needed after way too many "more of the same" games. People are excited for once!

I'm going to wait a while, but that's kinda my own problem, budget-wise.

kenwonobi3006d ago

Yes. Anytime something drives games sales it is a clear indicator of success. Especially if the numbers are as big as they indicated.

Paideia3006d ago (Edited 3006d ago )

Now I'm glad that Gran Turismo's damage system isn't too realistic. No risk of heart attacks.

Garethvk79d ago

I can finally play Half Life Alyx.

mariopasta79d ago

I can finally watch pron, I mean watch pronouns be pronounced in PC VR games that were previously not available on Playstation.

crazyCoconuts78d ago

be careful not to sprain your... tongue pronouncing those pronouns

Profchaos78d ago

I'm excited for that to plus I can try fallout 4 VR always wanted to play that

crazyCoconuts78d ago

I was lucky and held off on 4 until I played it in VR. It really is pretty awesome - you'll love it.

DaReapa78d ago

The icing on the cake would be if Sony / Valve allow for a Steam Link app much like it is for the Quest 3. Likely wishful thinking, though.
