lol, first it was a tease, then we all though it was a mistake. Now it is official.

Glad to see Wii U owners will be able to enter the world of Minecraft. The gamepad is perfect for this sort of game. Crafting and such will be a snap.

PancakeLova3088d ago

But fo reals crafting and such has been made pretty idiot proof on almost all other consoles so don't see gamepad making too much of change. Be like making it alot more convenient for 6 years ago when it has gotten good enough since then.

Neonridr3088d ago

I am simply referring to how quick and easy it is to drag, drop, etc. The gamepad offers you the ability to have your crafting menu up at all times.

pcz3088d ago

is this the announcement from nintendo that people were talking about yesterday?

PancakeLova3085d ago

Ha. Mojang just said the gamepad would act as a second screen. Nothing to do with inventory or crafting.

Neonridr3085d ago

yep, no gamepad support at this time. But that doesn't rule it out from a future patch.

Anyone who expected anything major.
Need to know. Damon Baker is in charge of the Indie relation.

So if you expected anything big outside a Nintendo Direct or Special Video. Your fault.

Perjoss3088d ago

Minecraft has sold well over 70 million copies, I think we can safely say that this is a major title.

OtakuDJK1NG-Rory3088d ago

I am talking about something in the realm of the Nintendo Fanbase expected. No one expected Minecraft.

everyone was on NX and Zelda and other stuff.

TheUndertaker853088d ago

...A major title that everything else already has

MetroidFREAK213088d ago

I'm not a Wii U owner nor do I play Minecraft... And I know the console doesn't have high sales, but I have 1 important question... Why the hell did this take so long to bring to the Wii U? Seems like a great fit for the console... Kinda baffles me. Oh well, enjoy Wii U owners

benji1013088d ago

It is a good question. It could have been that the sony had a deal with Mojhang to not publish minecraft on Nintendo. Sony really does this sort of moves.. And microsoft started development when the deal was over because microsft loves money and does not care about sony`s business in Japan. I pressume a lot so I am probably wrong.

user89668283088d ago

Actually at the beginning it was because the guy who created mine craft hates the Wii u and didn't want to put it on there

retrogamer093088d ago

MS is just counting that paper, son. Best investment in a long time.

Ausbo3088d ago

Smart move indeed. It's just funny that a first party studio of Microsoft makes games for all platforms. Interesting when you think about it

RealTrueGamer3088d ago (Edited 3088d ago )

Wow, gratz Wii U guys. If you haven't played this on the PC, another console, or your smartphone, you are about to lose a lot of your life to this game.

I will be giving this a pass on the U, since I have it on my PC and the Pocket Edition on my phone.

F*** AI

"Hey Copilot, what's a good meme to prove I dislike AI".... https://giphy.com/clips/sou...

Einhander19721d 4h ago

Two trillion dollar company that just can't wait to put as many people possible out of work as fast as possible.

It feels like every single thing they do is making gaming worse and destroying the industry.

....you know it takes people to program the AI.... right? It isnt like it is sentient. We haven't reach skynet level of situation or anywhere close to the matrix just yet.

That's next Thursday.

Einhander197210m ago(Edited 10m ago)

It takes a people to program the AI then that AI is used for who knows how many games eliminating countless jobs which only grows as AI is used for more and more game creation functions.

What you're saying is so ridiculously short sighted and truly larking any kind of understanding and foresight.

Why all the hate? Im actually excited about this! Always wanted this kind of immersion, and an AI companion with me all the time helping me out knowing the status of my skills/inventory/progress and giving me tips on the best approach or how to craft something specific is game changing for the industry.

Hate all you want about AI, but this is just the start and I can see the potential already. You wont be complaining in the next 5-10 years about this, but rather complain if a game hasn’t implemented it.

MrDead16h ago

Yes we can't wait for the work of others to be used without the need to pay them so that MS can profit even more from the people they fire.

I_am_Batman16h ago(Edited 16h ago)

There is no chance I'd ever use something like this, especially if it's not part of the core game design, but a layer on top of it. It's way too much handholding. Many games already feel like busy work, because they don't let the player figure things out on their own. Having a real-time interactive guide defeats the purpose of playing the game in the first place in my opinion.

If this were to become the standard like you predict, we'll see more and more video games get away with bad design, because people will just be used to ask for help from the AI companion anyway.

Number1TailzFan15h ago

Well Nintendo don't need this with some of their games these days, with invincible characters, items, easy bosses etc.. they do the hand holding built in

helicoptergirl16h ago

Takes "hand holding" in games to a whole new level.

1 major advantage to this will be launching it straight from SteamVR. You have to make a custom shortcut to get it working right now in VR.

UltimateOwnage2d ago

This is good news. It will be much easier to get it installed on my devices without using workarounds.
