Is Abyss Odyssey worth picking up?

Spenok3037d ago

I got a free copy to review. It was an interesting title that does side scrolling very well. I'd easily say it's worth the asking $7.50

Not at that price.

Solid visuals, gameplay is a bit of a mess.

Got a Vita for christmas in addition to some psn cards. Was hoping for at least a few PSP/PSOne Classics for cheap. Oh well.

Abyss Odyssey: Extended Dream Edition Review | RPGFan

RPGFan:
Roguelike games are pretty far out of my gameplay norm – particularly action roguelikes. I tend more toward turn-based strategy or hack & slash games. And yet, I always seem to find roguelikes hard to put down! Whenever I start one, I wonder if I'm just getting lucky, and starting Abyss Odyssey: Extended Dream Edition was no exception to that rule. Now that I'm done with it, I think I got lucky yet again, because I'm writing the review and still thinking about going back for one more game.

Abyss Odyssey Extended Dream Review | Gaming Nexus

GN:
Team ACE is definitely one that can’t be accused of sticking to the same tired formula. Look at their back catalog and you can see that aside from Zenoclash 2, they have no other sequels and each game has been distinctly different from the last. Abyss Odyssey has some familiar formula elements from platformers of old with a combat system similar to Super Smash Brothers, and while the initial release was a tad unpolished there were still some fun elements to the game. Abyss Odyssey: Extended Dream Edition takes the base game and expands upon it in a number of ways, and while the improvements are certainly welcome there are still some nagging issues that prevent this game from being a true classic.
