PlanetSide 2 (PS4) Review - Push Square

Push Square: "PlanetSide 2 is a staggering achievement that feels right at home on the PS4. For a fun, engaging battle-'em-up that doesn't cost a penny, it delivers potentially unlimited hours of adrenaline pumping excitement – there's nothing out there quite like it. Now if you'll excuse us, we have some Terrans to shoot."

feels right at home??
when i was on it the oither day there was hardly anyone on it(could of been start area i dont know).
it had really bad screen tearing and stick movement felt really bad.

SpaceRanger3205d ago

You started at the warp area. Basically the place where nothing happens. And in regards to stick movements, adjust them in the settings to your liking. Try different servers as well.

My only issue with it is the chat system in game. I turned it off and the frame rate is solid (that's the only solution to it right now). Hopefully they patch that soon. Right now it's my most played game! I'm having a blast playing as the infiltrator while cloaking into enemy bases. Fighting with the games 100+ battles is absolutely intense!

MysticStrummer3205d ago

Yeah I have the in game chat turned off as well. It caused problems during the beta and apparently it still does.

Loving the game though, despite the hiccups here and there. There's nothing else like it, and I'll take that over the usual cookie cutter online shooter fare any time. I mostly play medic and engineer, with heavy assault and MAX getting some time as well, but all the classes are fun in their own way. I've never been much for sniping, but cloaking as an infiltrator and sneaking behind enemy lines to get kills and hack terminals is awesome fun, and using the light assault jetpack to clear walls and reach good vantage points is great too. Awesome game.

aftger writing the comment above i went and loaded it back up and spent an hour on it,its still a buggy mess with crap controls.

spacedelete3205d ago

deleted this like 2 days after it released. gunplay is awful. i can't believe i was waiting for this since it was announced for PS4.

Spotie3205d ago

Your comments are so all over the place I don't believe you have ANY consoles.

MysticStrummer3205d ago

I don't believe you were waiting for it either.

TKCMuzzer3205d ago (Edited 3205d ago )

An hour just isn't long enough. You need to get on there with some people who know what their doing. It changes the game once you tweak the controls and use your squad properly.

Running around on your own looking for kills is not the way to play this game.

To the other guy above, patience is a virtue, it sounds like you didn't give the game a chance, which is a shame but impatient gaming seems to be a modern trend.

How can this game have 8/10. Its a bug fest, lag its crazy, horrible graphics. No ty. More like a 2/10.

TKCMuzzer3205d ago (Edited 3205d ago )

The lag is actually pretty good considering how many players are on there at once. I've had worse issues with the likes of COD in the past. As for the graphics, their pretty decent when you look at the size of the maps and the amount of players on at one time.

On the review side, it sounds like these guys put a lot more time into the game than you did so they could probably give a more detailed opinion of the game, hence why they come up with 8/10.

MysticStrummer3205d ago (Edited 3205d ago )

It has bugs but it's hardly a "bug fest", I rarely encounter lag, and the graphics are pretty nice considering the scale of what's happening. I'm loving it. There's no way a 2/10 is realistic imo.

Nice trolling... I love PlanetSide 2 on PS4 - running a 78 /100 MetaCritic and this 8/10 review says it's 'just as good as the PC version' http://metro.co.uk/2015/07/...

TKCMuzzer3205d ago

As soon as they patch in outfits and spawning on your squad, thats going to produce some great battles.

MysticStrummer3205d ago

Yeah I'm loving Planetside 2 on PS4 as well. There's nothing else like it, it sounds great through either my home theater system or headphones, and considering the scale of what's going on it looks great on my TV. I love to look at the map and see if there's a close battle where I can tip the scale with a well placed sunderer.

UKmilitia3205d ago

im not trolling,i was really wanting this game and im just struggling.
im gonna give it another push and get of this starter zone someone just mentioned im on a place called Kotyor or something.

i spawn miles away from anyone and that annoys me from the get go.
i have no friends that play it either.
gonna turn chat off and see if fixes display issues.

Jubez1873204d ago

Takes a bit to understand the game and get used to it but it can be pretty fun when it all comes together. I don't think it runs great but it runs well enough to play (it's not like when DUST was released). As for gun play, it's a little between CoD and BF. Recoil isn't as crazy as some BF guns (at least BFIII cause that's the last one I played) but not lazer guns like CoD.

I will highlight that class balance seems EXCEPTIONAL here. Or, even balance in general. So if you're big on balance, this is a good place to be.

My friend deleted it after a day, but then was all into it when we was watching me play a few days after that. It's all about knowing how to get to the good battles and stuff.

They sold the entire company. I did like when they ran Everquest as well. But numbers were declining unfortunately

Was such a cool concept back in the day - shame that it never really took off like it probably could have with more support
