Killer Instinct on PC features cross-platform play and purchases

When Killer Instinct is released on PC, PC owners will be able to take on Xbox One fighters as well as enjoy all of their previously purchased goods.

ScorpiusX3666d ago (Edited 3666d ago )

Controllers on both sides right no Kb & M nonsense.

UnHoly_One3666d ago

Do people actually use Keyboard and Mouse for a fighting game?

That seems like it would terrible.

Ogygian3666d ago

Lol you should be hoping PC gamers *do* use keyboard and mouse, as it is awful for controlling fighting games.

The strength of K+M is shooting games.

xfiles20993666d ago (Edited 3666d ago )

Another Xbox Exclusive coming to PC Wow

spicelicka3666d ago (Edited 3666d ago )

It's a MS exclusive, they'll do with it what they want. Still a console exclusive.

Tedakin3666d ago

2 years after the fact with crossplay and cross buy. This is a GOOD THING and will keep the game relevant. SF5 is doing the same thing. I already have it on Xbox, so I get it on PC free. That's awesome.

Software_Lover3666d ago (Edited 3666d ago )

And for free if you already own it. The f'n nerve of Microsoft!!!! /s

Edit: at lodossrage

you will not have to re-purchase content.

lodossrage3666d ago

But isn't killer instinct f2p in the first place?

Unless I'm missing the idea of the /s of course

AngelicIceDiamond3666d ago

Lol Phil himself is green lighting these games to PC. So anyone that yells "Ill just get it on PC! Aren't hurting anybody here because that's the point.

Yep MS is really trying to to bridge the gap between console and PC. It works out well for both.

Benjammin253666d ago (Edited 3666d ago )

Not for people with a PS4 and PC like me. I have literally no reason to get an Xbox one at the moment. Xbox One is miles behind PS4 sales wise as it is. It's not going to get any easier for them if they keep releasing their "exclusives" on PC.

gangsta_red3666d ago

Well with MS releasing games for PC they will still get customers like you who had no intention of getting a Xbox One.

It's a win/win for them.

They have their Xbox users and users on PC. Either way Live stays alive with gamers.

AngelicIceDiamond3666d ago

Well then there's the secret sauce. Buying KI and Gears on PC only helps MS and their ecosystem with XBL and WIN10 eiter way they get the software revenue and Live usage.

As far as X1 sales is concerned people are still gonna buy X1's ppl love to assume X1 sales will just stop or dramatically decrease because a hand full of Xbox games are on PC.

That's not the case at all. Console gaming is still hotter than PC gaming from a AAA point of view.

Killer Instinct: The Most Underrated Fighting Video Game in History

Killer Instinct is like the forgotten cousin at the fighting game family reunion.

yeah they were such good and fun games but they never really reached the mainstream audience. Killer Instinct was widely known and respected.

Cacabunga72d ago

Killer instinct is great, especially on snes but it’s not the most underrated fighter.. for me it’s Power Stone. So much potential in this series

Jawsh66672d ago

Bloody Roar was a game that had a sick concept but wasn’t made the best. I’d say Killer Instinct was the opposite of that, it was well made but the roster of characters were so similar to every other fighting game in that era that it ended up feeling like more of the same. I could be wrong that’s just how I remember it at the time and I played a ton of KI on SNES because it was one of the first games I owned.

PRIMORDUS72d ago

I loved this game in the arcade, my main was Jago, Ultra Combo!!! https://www.youtube.com/wat...

DivineHand12571d ago

That combo was way overkill 😂

PRIMORDUS71d ago

I know haha, I loved Jago.

Bathyj72d ago

You're kidding?
It enjoyed probably more success than it deserved.
Unlike Tobal 2

MeteorPanda71d ago

Tobal 2 was awesome. Sold really well cause art similarity to dragon ball

jjb198172d ago

I remember trying my hardest to learn that "Ultra... Ultra.... Ultra...." finish. Such a great fighting game.

Popsicle71d ago (Edited 71d ago )

I can tell you definitely got some SNES time in. The slight differences in the ports due to hardware constraints were interesting. For example, the arcade version was Ultraaaa Coooommboooooooo! versus Ultra….Ultra….Ultra on the SNES.

Though SNES overachieved as a port for as demanding as a game KI was.The arcade version was one of the first cabinets with a dedicated hard drive and the SNES version was 32 megabyte cartridge which was huge for that system at the time.

jjb198170d ago

Yeah, for sure. My local childhood arcade was always packed and it was hard to get a game in but once the SNES version came out, I was hooked. I can still feel the click of the power button.

Barlos580d ago

I'll have to get this! Been a big fan of KI since the very first one.

Petebloodyonion580d ago (Edited 580d ago )

I love KI (still play the old arcade version) but feel like the Xbox version is like a big intimidating chessboard with no easy way to instruct you to play chess.
The game is so deep in terms of little things to do that it makes Smash Bros melee look like a casual experience.
Honestly, doing a combo Breaker is punish/reward by itself but hey you can add a counterbreaker.
Here's what you also need to know
Breaking Shadow-linker
Instincts
Shadow counter
Auto double,
linker, manual
ender
etc,

There isn't going to be any chance of this being played at tournaments unless it appears on all platforms like all fighting games.

SPEAKxTHExTRUTH584d ago

SF5 didn’t appear on all consoles and was still played at Tournaments. I’ve seen KI tournaments recently so I don’t think your opinion is accurate.
