How does "I hope so..." get translated into "He thinks it will..."?

Volkama3304d ago (Edited 3304d ago )

I ran your comment through the GamingBolt Headline Generator, and it came back with "Christopher confirms Dx12 will not help Xbox, had no problems with ESRAM".

Welcome to Who's Line is it Anyways: Gamingbolt Edition... Where article content doesn't matter and misquoting all the information to form a misleading article title is the key to hits!!

Seriously guys... Read the article before you all jump on this.

To quote the great George Bluth: "faith is not a fact"

MasterCornholio3304d ago (Edited 3304d ago )

Let me confirm a bunch of things then.

I hope Valve announces Half Life 3 this year.

I hope Sony announces the Last Guardian at E3.

I hope Rockstar announces Read Dead 3 at E3.

I hope Sony reveals Horizon at E3.

I hope Sony reveals Quantum Dreams game at E3.

I hope Morpheus costs 200€.

I hope I win the lottery and become a millionaire.

Yep you heard it here first folks.

Blurmobjet3304d ago

Holy s#1t!!!

Red Dead 3 is a Sony exclusive?!

((>.<)) YES!!!

Blurmobjet3304d ago (Edited 3304d ago )

Btw, chill Commentator.
I don't think anyone disagrees about what's being said about DX12 helping XboxOne. But, that being said, GamingBolt turned "I hope" to "he believes" to "it will".

Although I would guess he does believe and perhaps even experienced improvements, that's not the quote they give us. All we learn for certain from this article is what a developer hopes for and they spin it to make it sound like confirmation. Nothing to do with Sony or Microsoft, that's just bad journalism.

I'm sure we all have some things we would like to "confirm", so I thought his comment was kind of funny.

Me too

I lol to yinz

Funny how a post that is all about Sony in an XB1 article is okay, but telling them to grow up and quit trolling is immature. Ridiculous.

@Blurmobjet
As I said, the title is misleading. The article is about XB1 and DX12 though, which are both MS products, but nothing to do with Sony which is why Cornholio's trolling doesn't belong here.

He believes that it will have the same impact on the Xbox One as it will on a PC.”I certainly hope so. You can never have enough power in any console so it’s cool to think that in its second or third year the Xbox One will become more powerful.”

Its been said many, many times DX12 will achieve different things for each dev.

I guess a performance boost with better tools can almost make both of these pieces of hardware "more powerful" in a sense.

Maybe his statement is just hyperbole.

After all they're just performance enhancements.

Just gotta wait and see how each dev benefits from it.

Christopher3304d ago

"Hope" doesn't equal "believe."

I "hope" I win the lottery, but I don't "believe" I will.

Two very different definitions between the two.

Eejanaika3304d ago

@cristopher

Not sure how you got on the subject of talking about the difference between two words. Let alone when the article and this comment is about performance. But since you brought it up.

While they do mean 2 different things, they can be use to emphasize the same thing.

"I hope i can win the lottery, I definitely believe i have a chance to"

two different words emphasizing that you're chances of winning the lottery are low but you accept it.

I also wouldn't say their that different since hope and acceptance are a common pair.

Christopher3304d ago

***Not sure how you got on the subject of talking about the difference between two words.***

Because the title says one thing, the article says another, but the quote uses another. That's how...

***While they do mean 2 different things, they can be use to emphasize the same thing. ***

No. No. No. Please look up the definitions. Please recheck your sources.

Hope: want something to happen or be the case.
Believe: accept (something) as true; feel sure of the truth of.

To finish the statement," But will run at 30 fps, so as not to sacrifice graphical fidelity!" Although I'm sure the possibility is there to upset certain Sony fans. I for one find nothing upsetting about this news. I welcome any game on any system to strive, achieve and, succeed at attaining the best it offers.

As for a cautionary bit of advice! A claim without proof, is just that! "A Claim." Most are just waiting for that proof.

Escape from Tarkov and War Thunder devs keep silent about the Ukraine War, still on Russian market

From Babel UA: "With the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, sanctions against the aggressor also affected the video game industry. The largest game publishers — Ubisoft, EA Games, Rockstar — have limited sales of their products in Russia and Belarus. And Steam, GOG and Epic Games stores have stopped accepting payments in rubles. But Russian players have already learned to circumvent the bans of publishers and shops — there are many instructions about how to do this on the Internet. The situation with the game developers of the aggressor countries is even more complicated. Many of them are not officially Russian or Belarusian, but have long opened offices in Europe and work from Britain, Hungary, and other countries. Russian developers usually donʼt comment on Russiaʼs aggression against Ukraine, continue to cooperate with Western companies and sell their games to Western players. Babel tells about the games Escape from Tarkov, World of Tanks, and War Thunder, which are popular in Europe and the United States, and about the behavior of their developers, who deliberately do not publicly state their position on the war or order advertising from outspoken supporters of the Putin regime."
