Kirby and the Rainbow Curse Review | GameSpot

GameSpot - Kirby and the Rainbow Curse is mechanically tied to Kirby: Canvas Curse, a 2005 Nintendo DS platformer. In Canvas Curse, you control Kirby with only the stylus, tapping to make him roll along and drawing rainbow lines to move him up, down, over enemies, and into the path of collectibles. Kirby could also copy enemies' skills and use them to his own advantage, making for an interesting and versatile mix of abilities to guide the beloved pink character through a handful of worlds packed with environmental puzzles.

Thats a very low score and judging by the gameplay you can tell the reviewer made some valid points.

Stages become monotonous and dull
Control issues make Kirby tough to handle

These two points are my main concern especially the bottom one never been a fan of the touch controls. ;)

@LOL_WUT: Its funny you would comment on the lowest scored review of Kirby and the Rainbow Curse.

OT: I watched the review and it came down to the reviewer sucking at getting used to the controls and couldn't wrap her mind around the fact its not your typical Kirby game.

Most of the reviews have been pretty positive and for a budget game of only $40 I'm still pretty excited to sit down and play this with my kids.

Lol, the pattern with you is so obvious :P

This is the same site that gave Tropical Freeze a low score because it was "hard".

I really disagreed when they said the level design in Tropical Freeze was unimaginative, that couldn't be further from the truth.

As for this game, i still feel it is out of place on wii u, but i really liked canvas curse as a kid so i will try it out. The reviewer describes traditional kirby gameplay as "stomping on enemies" which is wrong. This just doesn't seem like her kind of game.

Don't forget marking down ratchet and clank for having to much variety

Another gem for my collection.

Ouch! I'll take this review with a pinch of salt - particularly since remembering said sites review of Skyward Sword..."troublesome controls, predictable formula", WTF!? Still however, I'm not best excited now, if truth be told. I'll still be buying said game - being a huge Nintendo fan.

Edit: just checked a few more reviews just in. Each sound a hell of a lot more positive with their comments.

Gamespot it's garbage, this game looks awesome. The scores of this site are garbage, it should disappear.

BLG writes: "Kirby has been a Nintendo staple since he was first introduced on the Gameboy in 1992 so ranking the best Kirby games is no easy task. Created by Masahiro Sakurai and HAL Laboratory, the little pink puff-ball has made an appearance on every Nintendo console and handheld. While there are over 30 games with Kirby’s name attached, we’re only going to rank the 17 main storyline games."

Xenoblade X, Star Fox Zero, and Super Mario 3D World/Maker are the best bets IMO.
