The Evil Within review: Frustration takes hold | Nerd Reactor

The game feels too much of a rehash of old ideas to deliver any real scares that feel genuine enough for a second playthrough.

I'll take 'old re-hashed ideas' from survival horror over most of the present garbage any day.. Also, rating out of 5 is an awful review system.

Well said mate . Bubble up . I cant believe they gave it that score because of that .

WombBat3488d ago

this is basically a 5/10 according to their scales.

i know this game is better than a 5 just by looking at it

This is another title I was going to hold off until later this year, but I've been hearing good things about it and I will be picking it up at either Asda or Tesco today.

Really want to pick this up but I just bought Shadows of Mordor and Borderlands comes out too.....

Where were these games 2 months ago?

Zichu3488d ago (Edited 3488d ago )

I always say the same thing every year, these amazing games are always being released in October or November, when some of the bigger titles are hitting.

June and July are times where there aren't a lot of games which is when certain games should be released.

SoM was the other game I didn't plan on getting on release day, but I did and I don't regret it at all. Just finishing it up at the moment.

Yet another game where reviews are all over the place. I'm really believing that this is a good thing.

People's opinions and expectations are now much different than they were previous gens. Reason being is that now the wide variety of game types WITH the minor differences and minor additions are more of a factor than before.

Looks like this game , how well each person "rates" it, and the worth put on it, will vary per person. This is great for gaming.

The one thing that isn't.... If a games success is based on say a meta score!

Sokol3488d ago

Hmm, the thing is the old survival horror is exactly what I enjoy and it was one of the best of the genre had to offer.

If anything, more games should follow what made them in the past so great.

Original FEAR is a goddamn masterpiece

Was playing Alien: Isolation again a few weeks ago, still holds up and the AI is incredible.

F.E.A.R. was another amazing game, shame the series went downhill with 2 and then fell off entirely with F3AR.

Couldn’t get into Fatal Frame, bought the remaster on PS5 and just…couldn’t.

DeathTouch361d ago

Fatal Frame 2 is an underrated masterpiece.

Abnor_Mal361d ago
