This is another title I was going to hold off until later this year, but I've been hearing good things about it and I will be picking it up at either Asda or Tesco today.

I always say the same thing every year, these amazing games are always being released in October or November, when some of the bigger titles are hitting.

June and July are times where there aren't a lot of games which is when certain games should be released.

SoM was the other game I didn't plan on getting on release day, but I did and I don't regret it at all. Just finishing it up at the moment.

Yet another game where reviews are all over the place. I'm really believing that this is a good thing.

People's opinions and expectations are now much different than they were previous gens. Reason being is that now the wide variety of game types WITH the minor differences and minor additions are more of a factor than before.

Looks like this game , how well each person "rates" it, and the worth put on it, will vary per person. This is great for gaming.

The one thing that isn't.... If a games success is based on say a meta score!

Hmm, the thing is the old survival horror is exactly what I enjoy and it was one of the best of the genre had to offer.

If anything, more games should follow what made them in the past so great.

I am also an avid Resident Evil Fanatic and long for the old style of RE games. So this review has pretty much solidified that I will love this game. I can't stand how every "survival" horror game has turned into an over the top action, shooting festival with a few haymakers thrown in just for good measure. I want to have to run away from enemies because of the lack of ammo. I want to need to hide instead of wiping out my shottie and killing every last mother F**ker in the room. I also want a very confined, claustrophobic creepy atmosphere. All and all, I can't wait to pick this up. Sounds like a winner to me.

I'd say the game suffers from some stiff older mechanics from the 'old skool' that should have been polished up with some new skool technology but other than that it seems solid so far... I'd give it a 7.5 outta 10 but I'm crazy picky just because I've played so many games over the years but a 7.5 is not bad in my book it just means more technical polish is needed, the black bars are my biggest gripe TBH. This game has Great atmosphere etc... It will remind you of a darker RE4 no doubt... As far as survival horror goes I'd have to give it to Alien Isolation as I have been spoiled by it... Survival horror fans definitely shouldn't miss out on that game but Evil Within won't leave you regretting IMO especially since the current gen needs more entries from this genre. Hope this helps a little 😁

Every low score keeps saying old ideas and brings nothing new but is there really anything wrong with that? It's been a hell of a long time since we have seen those old ideas that were in the old RE and Silent Hill. This is what horror fans wanted!
