Destiny Review | Neoseeker

Neoseeker: "Even as the biggest game of the year, Destiny isn’t without its problems. But problems can be fixed, and that’s probably the best argument I can give in favor of the game while defending it against naysayers. For any other game, this might be a pretty weak defense, but Destiny isn’t just another shooter. It’s an ever-evolving world meant to last well beyond just a few years, one that will be carried forward by more content, events and fixes. For lack of a better explanation, Destiny is very much like an MMO."

Good review, I think alot of people lack the understanding it is like MMO.

lashes2ashes3499d ago

Every mmo that has been released on day one had more content than destiny. Destiny is lacking story and content, two things every mmo had on day one. Most people complain with a mmo is there is to much to do right off the bat that is completely the opposite of Destinys problems.

thorstein3499d ago

Why are you here and why do you care? No matter how many times you repeat how much you dislike this game, millions of people are going to enjoy it.

Why does this game make you so angry? Did Bungie steal your cookies?

Fireseed3499d ago

@thor

Maybe because he expected this game to be more than it was, after listening to Bungie hyping it up for years and getting a game with 1/4 the content of any of their previous games, we feel disappointed.

@ lashes2ashes

Its KIND of an MMO but you are only fooling yourself comparing it to traditional MMOs in terms of content. This is an ambitious project and it deserves its own genre if you ask me.

Bottom line i think its done great as the first of its kind, and its gonna be a lot of fun to watch it unfold.

joab7773499d ago

Exactly. And honestly this is one of the 1st games in which I could give a damn about reviews. It's so much fun to play, and a game I will come back to even after playing others.

That's extremely low for microtransactions, especially for a game that's essentially designed around it

LucasRuinedChildhood340d ago (Edited 340d ago )

This was back when the game wasn't free to play.

The figures are from November 2017 to February 2019 (1 year and 4 months).

Based on that projection, the MTX revenue for Destiny 2 likely would have been closer to ~$240m for 2 years.

Not sure if premium expansions are included in that figure either although ... I'd hope that they are though and that most of the revenue was for actual content like Forsaken.

People spend way too much money on cosmetics.

Rude-ro340d ago (Edited 340d ago )

Seasons($10 and just got bumped to $12) and dungeon keys($10 each, two a year) are through the eververse(micro transaction) store.
So for those two years, in order to play a season, you would pay through micro transactions.

Sonic1881340d ago (Edited 340d ago )

Bungie Marathon will be worse since it's designed around it as well

Kurt Russell339d ago

It makes me sad to agree... but at the same time I am looking forward to giving it a go. Destiny 2 is so far in, I find it difficult to figure out what I am meant to do first.

buffig340d ago

I think FIFA alone makes over $1bn a year from mtx

anast340d ago

FIFA promotes a worldwide sport. It should make more money than destiny.

CantThinkOfAUsername340d ago (Edited 340d ago )

Let's compare something similar. Apex Legends and its ridiculous $18/$40 skins make EA a billion each year.

z2g340d ago

For as much as ppl complain how much they hate microtransactions, they sure don’t act like it. No wonder they aren’t going anywhere.

spicelicka340d ago

By "people" you're referring to millions and millions of people. Obviously the ones complaining aren't necessarily the same as the ones spending all that money.

There's millions that purchase MTX and there's nothing we can do about it

I've been thinking about playing through D1 again before it goes away...

CobraKai491d ago

That’s the sad reality of a game like this. I bought it, invested lots of money, and it can go away at anytime. I still think this was more fun than 2.

jeromeface490d ago

prob because 2 is a grindfest slog

spoonard488d ago

That's the bummer of 'games as a service'.
