Sony Comments on March NDP Victory for PS4: Cites Supply Constraints and inFAMOUS Demand

Sony Computer Entertainment just sent a Press Release commenting on the latest North American NPD figures for March that saw the PS4 beat the Xbox One for the third month in a row. Senior Vice President of PlayStation Brand Marketing Guy Longworth also mentioned further supply constraints and the high demand for inFAMOUS: Second Son

News flash: X1 is selling incredibly well outpacing 360 by 60%. I love how everyone here is basically saying Titanfall is the big system seller and Infamous isn't a system seller at all.

None of us make money off these sales and they do not affect anyone's gameplay experience negatively, yet it seems people care more about sales figures than actually playing games as if they are CEO at Sony.

If MS is focused solely on outselling PS4 as everyone here thinks, then that means MS will continue to make the next best system seller(s) until it does, especially with Phil Spencer as head. So expect more Titanfalls to come.

inFamous was the fastest selling game last month pushing more units per day than any other game. We also do not yet have split figures on the Titanfall X1/PC sales either - or any multiplatform game.

The gap in April between consoles will be much wider than March.

I know Sony is killing it in the UK and Europe but am surprised to see them outselling Microsoft in the home country of the Xbox in the month of the Titanfall multi-million dollar PR campaign.

The most shocking thing is that PS4 figures are units SOLD whilst XBone are units SHIPPED. Microsoft have shipped 4 million but it's estimated that they have sold less than 3 million which is comparatively better than 360 at the same age but 50% less than PS4. These figures will help Sony in their dealings with third parties and ensure the console is the lead development platform.

It's even more impressive when you consider that MS pushed the Xbox 360 Titanfall release into April, to help move more Xbones during March (and that's in addition to free pack-in bundle and retail stores price reductions).

The main reason Xbox One is selling is because of supply contraints of PS4. If Sony flooded the retailers on par with how MS floods the retailers with Xbox One then PS4 could have sold.more and atill be sold out.

Keep in mind that Titanfall was on the market for 19 days in March on both PC and X1. I:SS was on the market for 8 days in march on a single console.

I'm really happy Respawn is seeing success, but the comparisons people are making aren't accurate...at least not for the purposes they're trying to insinuate with them.

Let's not forget that the difference in sales between titanfall and infamous is very small and titanfall had an extra week of sales. Over infamous. Not to mention the numbers likely don't account for digital distribution.

It's not about a store having stock, it's about a store selling out of stock quickly.

My local Game store gets 5-6 PS4s in every week, yet they are sold out with-in a matter of days.
It's all about supply and demand at the moment, the PS4 has a very high demand while the X1 has a low demand.

Supply constraints are over lol,we have over 40 ps4's and they come in every time we get down 25,we sell maybe 8 a week. The Xbox one titanfall bundle is in high demand but its complicated. The Xbox one stand alone,forza and titanfall bundle are cross reference so basically they send us the forza 5 bundle instead of the titanfall bundle ,titanfall bundles sell right away,forza ones sit for days,overall both are selling healthy and the ps4 hasn't been sold out since late February,this comes from one of the busiest malls in new York. Which has 2 gamestops in it a sears and other stores that sell ps4 and we always have it now

Here on Guam we only has 2 Gamestops and they just got a big shipment of PS4s this month. They were mostly sold out from Launch till Late March.

We've sold 90 in 4 weeks and Xbone only sold 35 or so and my EB Games is in Canada so it's only a $50 difference between systems. It's not even close at all for my store. We sold more PS4's the couple saturdays then all the 4 weeks of Titanfall combined. Also I still have people coming in and asking "Is that actually a PS4?" Then promptly snap it up.

You forgot about MLB 14 The Show coming out for PS4 on May 6th. There are quite a few people waiting for that version as well as some who will be making the jump from the PS3 version and carrying their saves with them. I wouldn't be suprised if the sales of the PS4 version outsold the PS3 version.
