Warlords of Draenor gameplay

Later this year the 5th expansion for World of Warcraft - Warlords of Draenor - will be released. Ready to see it?

Warlords of Draenor will not only bring us a new land, raise the maximum level of a hero (to 100) but also add the ability to create and manage a garrison and - for many it is most important add-on - will refresh the character models and their animations. Ready to see it?

I dropped WoW right after Cataclysm launched, never to pick it up again.

That said, I do have to admit that the developers have really put a lot of polish on a 9 year old game.

Volkama3730d ago

Someone financially minded really needs to take WoW and assess how they can make more money from the dedicated fan base.

Box price, boxed expansions, subscription, pay 2 win cash shop are all a decent start but there must be some way to squeeze out a few more drops.

Neixus3730d ago

there is no pay to win :) winning in wow isn't about getting to 90, it's about doing well in either pve or pvp. which the shop can't help you with

Volkama3730d ago

Pay to win is a pretty loose term.

For my mind paying for progress, paying to negate the need to play the game, paying for currency (yes WoW has gone experimental on that with pets you can buy for real money and sell on for gold), these things put WoW firmly in the pay to win category.

But even if your interpretation of pay to win is different to mine, you must admit that WoW utilises a whole lot of moneygrabs...

Neixus3730d ago (Edited 3730d ago )

You can't sell pets for gold that you bought from the store, well you can, but it's bannable.

I agree that pay to win is a loose term. For beginners, leveling is actually fun, but for players like me who have already lvled 3 alts to 90. It's just a grind fest.

''Pet and mount codes from the Online Store

This one carries the same warnings as for game-time cards, except that there is also the additional chance that, even if your (illegally) purchased code appears to work, the player ‘selling’ you his code will then cancel his payment, chargeback the codes, and you will then be left with nothing to show for your in-game gold.''

Volkama3730d ago (Edited 3730d ago )

They specifically released a pet that could be bought for cash and sold for gold a year or 2 back.

I don't know if you can still buy it or if there is still any demand for it, but without doubt it was Blizzard-endorsed gold buying. They said it was "an experiment".

EDIT: It was the Guardian Cub. Not sure if they considered the experiment a success and released more like that or not.

Another L for Xbox, when are they going to have good news?

MrDead3d ago

I would read the article but the giant pop-ups from the top and bottom of the screen made me close it.

Without reading $23.4 million isn't a deterrent for a company that size.

Boss: Let's fire a few people to recoup on that loss.
Slave: Cortana has decided to get rid of Arkane Austin and Tango Gameworks.
Boss: Let's get those Firing Letters "Copilot Approved" and send them through the power of the cloud.
Slave: Long Live Phil !!!
ALL in the room: LONG LIVE PHIL !!!!

Well another troll company with a patent trying to extort money out of companies. Seems like they’re going to try and sue everyone.

An Update on This Year’s BlizzCon and Blizzard’s 2024 Live Events

Blizzard writes: "After careful consideration over the last year, we at Blizzard have made the decision not to hold BlizzCon in 2024. This decision was not made lightly as BlizzCon remains a very special event for all of us, and we know many of you look forward to it. While we’re approaching this year differently and as we have explored different event formats in the past, rest assured that we are just as excited as ever to bring BlizzCon back in future years."

Diablo 4 storefront being a cash grabbing shitshow does unironically attest to that, kudos.

Microsoft needs to be guiding Blizzard to be what it USED to be, not allowing it to continue to be the greedy bastardization of itself that it has become.

XiNatsuDragnel26d ago (Edited 26d ago )

Okay i will be interested if they become old Blizzard but might as well be dead.

Rynxie25d ago

They will never be old blizzard. Most of all the OG's left from developers to those on the top (even some decision making folks left).

Vits26d ago

Shame most of the people that made Blizzard what they were, have already left a while ago.

ApocalypseShadow26d ago

I was about to say this. How can they be blizzard when they're no longer blizzard from yesteryear?

blacktiger25d ago

Rare was the thing I lost heart

victorMaje25d ago

Exactly. Blizzard hasn’t been Blizzard for a long time.
Oh how the mighty have fallen.

Knightofelemia25d ago

Blizzard is not the same Blizzard like it use to be.

PassNextquestion25d ago

Were you expecting Microsoft to hire everyone that had left Blizzard long before they purchased the company...

Microsoft has let the Blizzard company they purchased continue to be the Blizzard company they purchased.

thesoftware73025d ago

Wow, PassNextquestion,

You fully understand what that saying means, unlike some people on here who just have to say negative garbage talk.

When someone says, "Just let *blank* be *blank*, "they are just letting them operate how they operate.

It's pretty much how Sony "let Bungie be Bungie."

This comment section is full of outright haters, but you have to "let N4G be N4G"

GamerRN25d ago

This site leans so heavily in one direction...

BISHOP-BRASIL24d ago

I don't think people commenting are necessarily blaming MS for anything here, this is just collective longing for what Blizzard/Vivendi was before Activision's meddling.
