Forbes contributer Paul Tassi wrote yesterday about how gamers are continuing to resist the seemingly inevitable age of download-only console gaming. While he focused mainly on the lack of used game trade-in or offsetting price cuts on new games, right now there’s another issue creeping into view. Hard drive space.
This weekend when he booted up Call of Duty: Ghosts for the first time in a few weeks, he found that he had yet another update for the game, a 1.6 GB patch that promised “bug fixes” and a few balance/customization tweaks. It feels like every game he plays across both my systems has some sort patch to install alongside it every other time Paul goes to play, not to mention the large installs required even when he do indeed have a physical disc in hand.
Saad from eXputer: "Utilizing its myriad strengths and masterful design, Elden Ring ruined gaming for me in a way I'll always be thankful for."
It sounds like you’re just an eldenring fan and not so much a fan of games by and large. Which theres nothing wrong with.
These are the easy Achievement/Trophy Games for the week of April 29th - May 5th, 2024
Microtransactions have gotten ridiculously overpriced in recent years, with titles now offering cosmetic skins worth more than some games.
There never was, the only time I paid for a microtransaction was on Blacklight Retribution (PS4) and it was because I enjoyed the game a lot so I felt the devs should get something for all that entertainment (€5 "membership")
I couldn’t believe what Blizzard charged for horse armor and cosmetics in Diablo 4…
I remember back in the day when a season pass was $15 and you got everything included in it. Now, I see them at $60 and you still don’t get everything.
As soon as gaming wasn't deemed nerdy anymore, and reached the casuals this happened. We're smart, but casuals play mobile games and other stuff, and don't really have anything to compare. They think gaming is supposed to be like this and pay for in game purchases.
It would definitely be great if the hard drives were bigger, and hopefully Xbox One will get external HD support in the near future, but honestly this isn't a problem for most people. Not many people have 15-20 games that they're playing simultaneously.
ummmmm...delete the games you most likely stopped playing in November/December 2013?
this is one problem i have with next gen consoles.
Good thing I can upgrade my ps4 to a larger drive!
And that's one of the best things about PS4 and PS3. I can upgrade my hard drive at will :)
