I was planning on waiting for ps4v, but with this I'm getting ASAP
Abriael  +   718d ago
Yeah there's absolutely no reason to wait now. Too bad they aren't including PC users :(

ok!! i'm buying this now!

Oh yeah!!! There's yet another example of Sony doing what's right for their gaming community. You'd never see micro$$$$$oft doing this. You have to pay some kind of fee, if they even let you do it at all. Way to go Sony. Lead by example.
AlexanderNevermind  +   717d ago
As one who went for the PC edition over the PS3 I total agree. Just let us all get the PS4 version for free.
NegativeCreepWA  +   717d ago
mewhy, what does Sony have to do with this? It's Square Enix that's doing it.
MizTv  +   718d ago
Is there a monthly fee?
boing1  +   718d ago
Afaik, there is.
HammadTheBeast  +   718d ago
Unfortunately yes. $10-$15 a month I think.
zep  +   718d ago
even for playstation users? how does that work? i though it was free if you play it online
on psn XD

so basically you are a dumbass if you play this game on anything other then a playstation system? anyone who gets the xbox version is just stupid at this point.
Deathdeliverer  +   718d ago
Yeah. They would also have to be magicians if they got the Xbox version because there isn't one. Anyway is great news for me. Already have the pc and ps3 versions. PS4 paid off too.
Magicite  +   718d ago
if u can get xbox version then ur a god, cos it havent been releaed on xbox and proly wont.
Dagobert  +   717d ago
Bro cocaine is a hell of a drug.
Sevir  +   717d ago
It's console exclusive to the PS3 and PS4... With Remote play available for vita... So, playing the PS version is better than playing on PC
AlexanderNevermind  +   717d ago
@RedHawkx,

lol my brother....nm :-)

@ Sevir

Although this game is not that graphics intensive the PC version will always be able to play at higher resolutions than 1080p (for those who have the capabilities). Still the PS4 version should be top notch.

Wow, that's generous of them!
Wizziokid  +   718d ago
Damn I kind of wish this was the same for PC owners, would love to swap between PC and Console depending on how I'm feeling.

Still awesome news for the console players
anonrus  +   717d ago
can confirm having access to it on ps3 and pc is very convenient.
Wizziokid  +   717d ago
yeah I just can't afford to buy it twice at the moment but if i'm still in when it launches on PS4 i can see myself getting a copy
SonyNGP  +   718d ago
Good move.
ibrake4naps  +   718d ago
Cuz they want u to keep paying that bill to em!
phallusitator  +   718d ago
True. But it's still a nice gesture. Hopefully other companies will do the same with their PS3->PS4 conversions.

Also I got the PSN version for free. So, win-win!!

Yeah, it's interesting how that worked out with the whole PSN pre-orders from 13th-15th getting the game for free, and now this for free.

I really didn't expect them to let people upgrade for free like that, but there you go. I'm guessing it's mainly because the sub fee is what's making them the money, so they can take a hit on that.
Toon_Link  +   718d ago
Wow that's awesome! I already bought the collectors edition for the ps3 and have my ps4 preordered. I can't wait!
mistertwoturbo  +   718d ago
Wow that's actually pretty good. Might consider hopping onto this on PS3 for now. Almost bought the PC version. Then again, come Sept 17th I'll be playing GTAV.
tarbis  +   718d ago
Squeenix doing something right? IMPOSIBURU!!!
mistertwoturbo  +   718d ago
Yeah wait wtf... that's right... didn't even realize this is Square Enix.
Irishguy95  +   718d ago

Lets see what they have for Vita at TGS/

Square soft were for me, S-E haven't lived up to the legacy yet imo
bangoskank  +   718d ago
Anyone notice that better things are slowly happening at SE since Wada stepped down?
Irishguy95  +   717d ago
It fairness, everything that was revealed this year...was all planned while Wada was in power. It just took really long, Wada got unlucky basically, because it took this long for Ps4 to get revealed, Realm reborn to be finished etc. Everything that is good now was actually done under Wada. But, so was FFXIII
TimeSkipLuffy  +   718d ago
and how will that work?
LordNikon  +   718d ago
Some PS3/PS4 and 360/One cross-gen games have a similar deal. Not sure how it works though.
TimeSkipLuffy  +   718d ago
and currently there is not much information about that either. I really want to go digital with new gen but I don't believe they will give me the digital PS4/X1 game for $10€ when I have bought the digital PS3/X360 version...

Wizziokid  +   718d ago
probably a free download for those who have a registered ps3 copy?
Deathdeliverer  +   718d ago
It will be tied to your playonline account. If you go to it, it shows all versions you have. Might take a screenshot to show mine. So like when I got FF:Arr for free on pc because I had the original on pc. You link your PS3 login to your playonline account and that version shows up on your playstation services section as well as PO. Because all the linking, it will just show up as a already purchased game. Like when u download something on vita and it shows on ps3. Hope this makes sense. I've been on FF all night and I'm sleepy. 3rd maxed job here I come.... after sleep.
Redempteur  +   718d ago
when you play FF14 , you tie your S-E account with your PSN account ..

When you have a PS4 , you use the same PSN account and youll have FF14 PS4 with your old stuff since all versions use the same set of servers.

Just simple as that.

YESSSSS!!!!

Arigato gozaimasu!!!
Inception  +   718d ago
Wow, are SE got some tips from Sony about how to keep their fanbase happy?
Kurisu  +   718d ago
Good news! The PS4 version of FFXIV is quite expensive so I'm glad I don't have to purchase this game again.
Furesis  +   718d ago
that gave me an idea heh heh heh...
Mr-SellJack  +   718d ago
Total dominance!
bangoskank  +   718d ago
Already have it for the PS3. If we can upgrade FF XIV at PS4 launch then I'm sold on the day of its release. Good job SE. Now release type 0 in the US.
RiPPn  +   717d ago
Wish they would have announced this before launch, I would have got the PS3 version instead of the PC version.
J@D  +   717d ago
This news make e really happy, happy indeed.
fsfsxii  +   717d ago
I just came!
I put the game on hold till the PS4 version comes out. Now, i'm gonna buy it now.
jjb1981  +   717d ago
I almost got the PC version, I'm glad I got the ps3 version. I can't wait. I hope it's available on release day!

Would this be a good game to experience for someone new to MMO's? I've been hearing a lot of nice things about this game, but I'm not sure I'd be able to keep up.
AlexanderNevermind  +   717d ago
MMO's are somewhat like RPGs just on a massive scale. You can ask questions to the community as you play and can always wiki or youtube a spot in the game that has you perplexed. Great game you should give it a go.

FYI: If you register today before 11:59 pm Pacific Standard Time today, you get the extra 7 days on top of the 30 day trial period. This is due to the issues the game had with the servers at launch.
Puppy_Farts  +   717d ago
Hey Alexander - Thanks for the details, much appreciated. I think I'll give it a go! =)
Blasphemy  +   717d ago
should update ff xi and do this for xi to.

Square Enix is making it's comeback. I've been playing on PS3 and I absolutely LOVE the new FFXIV. It's amazing and it's just started. Now they're promising content updates every 3 months like on FFXI, expansion packs. Now this news? I was expecting to pay again for the PS4 release, and I'd of paid for it again proudly, but this is just the icing on the cake. I loved FFXI, and now I love the new FFXIV. I can't wait to see what they bring to their fans next.
